Case Study
Porch
Overview
A porch is a structure attached to or projecting from
the entrance of a building, serving as a covered shelter
or as an extension of living space. It often features
a roof, columns or pillars, and may be enclosed by
screens, walls, or windows to provide protection from
the elements while still allowing for outdoor
enjoyment.

Types & Standard


Open Porch
It typically has a roof supported by columns or pillars but is otherwise open on all sides.
It provides shade and shelter while allowing for an unobstructed view of the surrounding
area.

Screened Porch
Also known as a screened-in porch or a sunroom, this type of porch is
enclosed by screens to keep out insects while still allowing air and light to pass through.
It offers protection from bugs and debris while maintaining a connection to the outdoors.
Standard Size is 4.3m x 5m for conversation area & 4.3mx7.3m to include a dining area

Enclosed Porch
Sometimes referred to as a four-season porch or a sunroom, this type of porch is fully
enclosed with windows and walls, often featuring insulation and heating systems to make
it usable year-round. It provides additional living space that can be enjoyed in any weather
condition.

Wraparound Porch
This type of porch extends along two or more sides of a building,
wrapping around the corner. It offers ample space for seating and outdoor activities and
enhances the architectural appeal of the home.

Standard size varies according to the size, owner and architect of the home but on average
the size is 4.3m x 5m for conversation area with two lounge chairs & 4.3mx7.3m to include
a dining area.
