What is
present continuous?
The present continuous is made from the present
tense of the verb be and the –ing form of a verb
WE USE PRESENT CONTINUOUS TO:

activities at the
moment of future plans
speaking
ACTIVITIES AT THE MOMENT OF SPEAKIMG

Ex:

The children are sleeping.

I am just leaving work.


FUTURE PLANS

Ex:

What are you doing next week?

I am going to study tomorrow.


YOU CAN USE PRESENT
CONTINUOUS IN THREE FORMS:

Positive form

Negative form

Question form
POSITIVE

SUBJECT + AM/IS/ARE + VERB-ING

Ex:

We are working near the shop.


I am studying at school.
it is raining.
NEGATIVE

SUBJECT + AM/IS/ARE + NOT + VERB-ING

Ex:

She is not working.


I am not starting.
They are not enjoying the movie.
QUESTION

WH-QUESTIONS (OPTIONAL) + AM/IS/ARE + SUBJECT + VERB-ING

Ex:

Are you speaking?


When is the movie playing?
What are you two talking about?
