MINUTES FOR KAMBA COMMUNITY WELFARE MEETING HELD AT GREENSPOT

HOTEL ON 2ND DECEMBER 2023.

MIN/001/2023: PRELIMINARIES
The meeting was opened with a word of prayer from Faith Nyamai.
Thereafter, Paul Mutisya gave the opening remarks emphasizing on the importance of
having a consolidated Kamba front.
He then invited Mr. Kamuti to chair the meeting.

MIN/002/2023: PROPOSAL AND RATIFICATION OF FORMATION OF THE KAMBA


WELFARE
Mr. Kamuti welcomed the idea of having a strong and active Kamba community welfare
and which will form the basis for other engagements moving forward.
His words were echoed by Ones who highlighted that after Mr. Kamuti had an accident
and some of the members came together and organized to visit him, the need for an
organized welfare became evident.

MIN/003/2023: SCOPE OF THE WELFARE


The scoop of the welfare was subdivided into three whereby we identified those to lead
the Welfare as well as the terms of membership, extend of sickness to be considered
and those to be covered by the welfare in case of bereavement as detailed below:
a) Leadership Structure and Membership
Leadership Structure

The following were tasked with leading the team:

A.Kamuti – Chairman

Willy Wambua – Vice Chair

Cathy Mutuku – Secretary

Joseph Munyao – Vice Secretary

Eve Kitoo – Organizing Secretary

Paul Mutisya - Treasurer

Patrick Silla – Chief Whip


It was agreed that the welfare would need a bank account and the Chair, Secretary and
Treasurer would be entrusted with the same and would be the official signatories.

It was agreed that a bank account be opened with Co-op bank being the preferred choice.

Membership

It was agreed that membership would commence immediately and go on until 5th January 2024
and membership fee would be 1,000 kshs.

Members also agreed on monthly contribution which will be done by 5 th of every month with
members suggesting 500 kshs (to be reviewed later).

It was agreed that for one to be a member, He/she must:

I. Be a Kamba
II. Be willing to be a member
III. Have passed thru CRS or is at CRS
IV. Be a cooperative member
b) Support members during sickness

Members were given an opportunity to discuss extend of sickness, who to be covered and the
amount to contribute in case of sickness and members had diverse ideas.

It was agreed by a majority of the members that only the registered member, their spouse and
children qualify for the sickness support in the meantime.

Seven (7) days of hospital admission were set as the minimum number of days for one to
qualify the sickness support or any other illness related condition, a panel of an odd number
will discuss the same on the principle of good faith.

Amount to be contributed for this course will be discussed later.

c) Support Members during Bereavement

It was agreed that only the nuclear family and parents to the registered member would be
considered for the bereavement support for the time being.

Amount to be contributed per member will be discussed later.

Date for the next meeting was set on 9th March 2024 (Unless stated otherwise)
The welfare Constitution to be written (Officials) and shared in the WhatsApp group for
members to read and ratify where need be.
Whether to register as a Group or a SHG (Self Help Group) is to be discussed later.
Without any other business, the Chair thanked all those present for honoring the invite
and encouraged all to keep the momentum for the best interests of the welfare.
The meeting was closed with a word of prayers from Ruth.
