to welcome to the Philippines National

know more about the Filipino Painters and
their masterpiece.

1. Fernando Amorsolo

Labeled the country’s


first National Artist
in 1972 by then
President Marcos,
Fernando Amorsolo
is often known as the
“Grand Old Man of Philippines Ats”

Amorsolo was a portraitist and painter of


rural Philippines and a master in using
lights.

2. Juan Luna

Juan Luna was a Filipino


painter who contributed
to sparking the
Philippine revolution.
He joined in the contest
at the “Madrid
Exposition” and won a Gold for
Spoliarium in 1884.

Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo

“Las Virgenes Cristianas Expuestas al


Populacho” (1884): This masterpiece
remains iconic and showcases Hidalgo’s
exceptional skill. It depicts Christian
virgins exposed to the populace and is
housed in the Metropolitan Museum of
Manila.
