Unathi is busy planning for the month of May 2022. The calendar of May 2022 is given below.

1.1.1. Write down the number of public holidays in May 2022. (2)
1.1.2. Determine the number of days the learners are going to school in May 2022. (2)
1.1.3. The Mathematical Literacy examination will be written for 180 minutes.
Convert 180 minutes to hours. (2)
1.1.4. Write down the time that the learners are leaving for the School camp in words. (2)
1.2. Unathi will bake a birthday cake for her dad. TABLE 1 below shows the main ingredients for
the cake.

1.2.1. Convert 750 millilitres (mℓ) to litres (ℓ) (2)


1.2.2. Write down the ratio of flour to butter in a simplified form. (2)
1.2.3. Strawberry puree is sold in 450 g tins.
Calculate the number of 30 g portions of puree that can be obtained from a 450 g tin. (2)

1.3. Tlokwe District Municipality supplied 108 households of the Top City community with 6 water

The diameter of each tank is 1 128 cm, and the height is 5,5 m.
The tank has a capacity of 1 500 litres.

1.1. The 2022 FIFA Soccer World Cup is being hosted in Qatar. TABLE 1 below shows the map
and the capacity of the eight stadiums where the matches will be played. The stadiums are
all within 40 miles of each other.

1.1.1. Name the stadium with the 3rd largest seating capacity. (2)
1.1.2. Determine the total capacity of all the stadiums. (2)
1.1.3. Identify the type of scale shown on the map. (2)

1.3. The image below shows a pack of four Koo Baked Beans that is on special at a supermarket.

The Two Oceans Marathon takes place annually in the Western Cape over the Easter weekend.
Jonathan is a marathon runner who wishes to participate in the Two Oceans Marathon. Jonathan
decides to prepare hard for the marathon, becoming fit, watching his weight and eating healthy.
The following is a chart that can be used to determine the weight status of a person based on the Body
Mass Index (BMI) of a person:

Mr Peters travelled from Beaufort West to Johannesburg to deliver boxes of seed. On his way back
home he will visit his cousin.

2.1.1. Name the type of scale used in the map. (2)


2.1.2. Write down any THREE countries neighbouring South Africa. (3)
2.1.3. Name the national road that mr Peters can use to travel from Beaufort West to Johannesburg via
Kimberley. (2)
2.1.4. Write down the general direction from Beaufort West to Johannesburg. (2)
2.1.5. Mr Peters' wife would like to visit Windhoek during the December holidays. Mr Peters
comments that she would need a passport to go to Windhoek. (2)
Give a reason why a traveller needs a passport in order to visit Windhoek.
2.1.6. The fuel tank of Mr Peters' car has a capacity of 80 litres. (5)
He claims that it will cost him 4% more if he fills his car inland, instead of at the coast.

From Durban he takes the N2 south to the next town where his cousin lives

3.1. Miss Bagley’s son owns a small bakery. She uses a cylindrical baking pan as shown below.

Other information:

• A Cylindrical baking pan has a 3 079,16 𝑐𝑚3 capacity.


• The oven must be preheated to 430℉ before placing the baking pans.
3.2. Miss Bagley is concerned about the amount of sugar intake she consumes. She read an article on
the article on the internet about the amount of sugar contained in some drinks.
TABLE 2 below shows the sugar content per volume of some drinks.
