PASSIVE VOICE
TYPES:
•ACTIVE VOICE
•PASSIVE VOICE
• ACTIVE VOICE
• The subject is the 1º element (person, animal,thing)
• The subject is doing an action (verb)
• The object (person, animal, thing, place, etc) is receiving an action or is
afectedby an action

• PASSIVE VOICE
• The object (person, animal, thing, place, etc) is the 1º element.
• The object is not doing an action (verb).
• The object is receiving an action or is affected by an action
• If necessary, the person doing the action is expressed at the end

1. WE NEED TO IDENTIFY THESE THREE ELEMENTS:
OBJECT (WHO OR WHAT IS RECEIVING THE
ACTION)
TIPS TO USE PASSIVE VOICE ACTION (THE VERB, WHAT IS AFFECTING THE VERB)
CORRECTLY. SUBJECT (WHO OR WHAT IS DOING THE ACTION)

SOMETIMES THE SUBJECT IS NOT FOUND BECAUSE IT IS


NOT IMPORTANT OR RELEVANT TO EXPRESS THE MAIN
IDEA.

2. WE NEED TO CHECK THE TENSE, WHEN THE IDEA


HAPPENED (PRESENT, PRESENT CONTINUOUS, PAST,
PRESENT PERFECT, ETC)

3. ONCE WE KNOW ALL THESE ELEMENTS WE CAN


START BY USING THIS STRUCTURE.
OBJECT + TO BE + PAST PARTICIPLE + PREPOSITION +
SUBJECT
