‫َنا‬ ‫َأ‬
‫َب‬
we have reached the morning...
Upon entering the night,
we remember Allah ,
in awe of His alternation,

"...He wraps the night around the day,

and wraps the day around the night...."

a sign for those who take heed.

[Az-Zumar: 5]

‫ِذ ر‬
Remembrance

The divine wisdom behind dhikr,

allows for our connection with our Lord to be perpetual,
for it can be done anywhere and at any time.

To elevate our dhikr, we need to engage our hearts,

and follow the sunnah of prescribed dhikr at specified times.

Allowing us to unlock the full treasures of this world and the next,
whilst nourishing our souls and relishing the descent of tranquility.
 ‫ْك‬ ‫ْذ‬ ‫ٰٓـ‬
‫َأُّيَه ا ٱَّلِذ ي ا ُنو۟ا ٱ ُك و۟ا ٱلَّل ِذ ًۭر ا َك ِثيًۭر ا‬
‫َه‬ ‫ُر‬ ‫َن َء َم‬ ‫َي‬
O believers! Always remember Allah often,
‫ياًل‬ ‫ْك‬
‫َو َأِص‬ ‫ًۭة‬ ‫ِّبُحو‬
‫ُهُب َر‬ ‫َو َس‬
and glorify Him morning and evening.
[Al-Ahzab: 41-42]
From amongst the most rewardable
and virtuous forms of remembering
Allah are the morning and evening
supplications (established in the
Sunnah). This is because they include
all-encompassing forms of
protection and benefits.
Therefore, whoever wishes to remain
secure from all types of calamities in
this world, and to enjoy short-term and
long-term success; he should hold on
tight to these supplications and perform
them every morning and evening.

 When?
‫ْك‬ ‫ْذ‬ ‫ٰٓـ‬
‫َأُّيَه ا ٱَّلِذ ي ا ُنو۟ا ٱ ُك و۟ا ٱلَّل ِذ ًۭر ا َك ِثيًۭر ا‬
‫َه‬ ‫ُر‬ ‫َم‬ ‫َن َء‬ ‫َي‬
‫ْك‬
O believers! Always remember Allah often,

‫ياًل‬
‫َو َس ِّبُحو ُب ًۭة َو َأِص‬
‫ُه َر‬
and glorify Him morning and evening.
[Al-Ahzab: 41-42]

MORNING Between Fajr and Sunrise

EVENING Between Asr and Maghrib

Morning and evening are mentioned specifically, to lay emphasis on carrying out
Dhikr during these times, as it carries heightened blessings.
If one is unable to recite during the specified period, then it can be done as soon
as one is able to.
 How?
‫ْف‬ ‫ْذ‬
‫ٱ ُكر َّر َّبَك ِفى َن ِس َك َت َض ًۭع ا‬
‫ُّر‬ ‫َو‬
‫ْل‬ ‫ْل‬ ‫ْل‬
And remember your Lord within yourself in humility,

‫ْو‬ ‫ْه‬ ‫ًۭة‬

‫َو ِخ يَف َو ُدوَن ٱ َج ِر ِم َن ٱ َق ِل ِب ٱ ُغُدِّو َو ٱَأْلَص اِل‬
‫ْل‬
and in fear and without loudness, in the mornings and the evenings.

‫اَل َت ُكن ِّم ٱ َغ ٰـِفِلين‬

‫َن‬
And do not be among the heedless.
‫َو‬
[Al-Araf: 205]

It is recommended, for Dhikr to be performed with humility, reverence, and in a

moderate tone of voice.
When the companions asked the Messenger of Allah ‫" ;ﷺ‬Is our Lord close, so that
we call Him in secret, or far, so that we raise our voices?" Allah sent down the
verse, "And when My servants ask you, [O Muḥammad], concerning Me - indeed I
am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me."
[Al-Baqarah: 186] [Tafsir: Ibn Kathir]
 Who?

‫ْح‬ ‫ْر ْل‬

‫ِّب‬ ‫ِإَّنا َّخ َنا ٱ ِج اَل ُهۥ‬
‫َن‬ ‫َس‬‫ُي‬ ‫َب َم َع‬ ‫َس‬
‫ْش‬ ‫ْل‬
Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allah],

‫ِب ٱ َع ِش ِّى َو ٱِإْل َر اِق‬

in the evening and after sunrise.

‫ٓۥ‬ ‫ٌّۭل‬ ‫ًۭة‬ ‫ْي ْح‬

‫َو ٱلَّط َر َم ُش وَر ۖ ُك َّلُه َأَّو اٌۭب‬
And the birds were assembled, all with him repeating [praises].
[Sad: 18-19]

Allah caused the lofty mountains and the assembled birds, to glorify His praises, at
the start and at the end of the day. All in obedience.
Therefore, we, as the creation and 'ibaad (slave) of Allah , enjoin to follow His
command, as we commence and conclude our day. [Tafsir: Ibn Kathir]
 Why?
‫ياًل‬ ‫ْك‬
‫َو َس ِّبُحو ُب ًۭة َو َأِص‬
‫ُه َر‬
And glorify Him morning and evening.

‫ٰٓـ‬
‫َل ِئَك ُتُهۥ‬ ‫ْم‬ ‫ْي‬
‫ُه ٱَّلِذ ى ُيَص ِّلى َع َل ُك‬
‫َو َم‬ ‫َو‬
He is the One Who showers His blessings upon you - and His angels pray for you -

‫ْخ‬
ۚ ‫ِل ِر ُكم ِّم ٱلُّظُل ٰـِت ِإَلى ٱلُّنوِر‬
‫َم‬ ‫َن‬ ‫ُي َج‬
‫ْؤ‬ ‫ْل‬
so that He may bring you out of darkness and into light.

‫َك ا ِب ٱ ُم ِمِني ِح يًۭم ا‬

‫َر‬ ‫َن‬ ‫َن‬ ‫َو‬
For He is ever Merciful to the believers.
[Al-Ahzab: 42-43]

Allah's 'salah' means that He praises His servant, by His mercy; and His angels
supplicate and seek forgiveness for you.
He brings you forth from the darkness of ignorance and misguidance, into the light of
guidance and certain faith. [Tafsir: Ibn Kathir]
 The verses of the morning and
evening adhkar encourage
starting and ending
the day with dhikr.
This is so that one may
commence and end with the
worship of Allah,
and the dhikr will
expiate for the sins perpetrated
in between these two periods.

Wear the ‘coat’ of adhkar so
it can protect you from the
evil of humans and jinn.

And cover your souls with

istighfar (seeking forgiveness)
so it can erase the sins of the
night and day.

 The morning and evening
adhkar play the role of a shield;
the thicker it is, the more its
owner is protected.

Rather, its strength can reach to

such an extent that the arrow
shot at it will bounce back to
affect the one who shot it.

‫َأُع وُذِب الَّلِه ِم َن الَّش َطاِن الَّر ِج يِم‬
I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaytaan

‫ْل‬ ‫ْل‬
ۚ ‫ٱ َقُّيو‬ ‫ٱلَّلُه ٓاَل ِإَلٰـ ِإاَّل ُه ٱ‬
‫ُم‬ ‫َو َح ُّى‬ ‫َه‬
Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence.

‫ْأ‬
ۚ‫اَل َت ُخُذ ۥ ِس َنٌۭة اَل َنْو ٌۭم‬
‫َو‬ ‫ُه‬
Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep.

‫ْر‬
ۗ ‫َّلُهۥ ا ِفى ٱلَّس ٰـ ٰـِت ا ِفى ٱَأْل ِض‬
‫َم‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َم‬ ‫َم‬
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.

‫ْذ‬ ‫ٓۥ‬ ‫ْش‬

ۚ‫ن َذا ٱَّلِذ ى َف ِع نَد ِإاَّل ِب ِإ ِنِه ۦ‬
‫ُه‬ ‫ُع‬ ‫َي‬ ‫َم‬
Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?

‫َو َم‬ ‫َي ُم َم َب َن‬
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them,

‫ٓۦ‬ ‫ْى ْن ْل‬

ۚ ‫اَل ِح يُطو ِب َش ٍۢء ِّم ِع ِم ِه ِإاَّل ِب ا َش ٓا‬
‫َء‬ ‫َم‬ ‫َن‬ ‫َو ُي‬
and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills.

‫ْر‬
ۖ ‫ٱَأْل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ٱل‬ ‫ْر‬
‫َض‬ ‫َو‬ ‫ِت‬ ‫ٰـ‬ ‫َم‬ ‫َّس‬ ‫ُه‬ ‫ُّي‬ ‫ِس‬ ‫ُك‬ ‫ِس‬
‫َو‬
His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth,
‫َو َع‬
‫ْف‬
ۚ‫اَل و ۥ ِح ُظُه ا‬
‫َم‬ ‫ ُدُه‬tires
‫ َي ُٔـ‬Him ‫ َو‬not.
‫ْل‬ ‫ْل‬
and their preservation

‫ُه ٱ ِل ٱ ِظ ي‬
‫ُم‬ ‫َو َو َع ُّى َع‬
And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Whoever recites when they rise in the morning, will be protected from jinns until he retires in
the evening; and whoever recites when retiring in the evening will be protected until he rises in
the morning. [Al-Hakim, Targheeb, authenticated by Albani as Sahih] [Al-Baqarah: 255]

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

‫َأ‬ ‫ُه‬‫َّل‬‫ٱل‬ ‫ُق ُه‬

‫َح‬ ‫َو‬
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,

‫ُد‬ ‫َّص‬‫ٱلَّلُهٱل‬
‫َم‬
Recite x3

‫ْم ْد ْم ْد‬
Allah, the Eternal Refuge.

‫َل َي ِل َو َل ُيوَل‬
He neither begets nor is born,

‫ٌۢد‬ ‫ْم‬
‫َأ‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ًو‬‫ُف‬‫ُك‬ ‫ۥ‬ ‫َّل‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ُك‬ ‫َو َل‬
‫َح‬ ‫ُه‬ ‫َي‬
Nor is there to Him any [One] equivalent."

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

‫ُق َأُع وُذِب َر ِّب ٱ َف َلِق‬

Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak,

‫ا‬ ‫ن‬
‫ِم َش َم َخ َق‬
‫َل‬ ‫ِّر‬
From the evil of whatever He has created,
Recite x3

‫َق‬ ‫ا‬‫َذ‬ ‫ِإ‬ ‫ٍق‬ ‫ِس‬‫ا‬ ‫َغ‬ ‫ِّر‬ ‫َش‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ِم‬
‫َو َب‬ ‫َو‬
‫ْل‬
And from the evil of darkness when it settles,

‫َو ِم ن َش ِّر ٱلَّنَّف ٰـ َثٰـِت ِفى ٱ ُعَق ِد‬

And from the evil of the blowers in knots,

‫َح َس َد‬ ‫ا‬‫َذ‬ ‫ِإ‬ ‫ٍد‬ ‫ِس‬‫ا‬ ‫ِّر‬ ‫َش‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ِم‬
‫َح‬ ‫َو‬
And from the evil of an envier when he envies.”

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

‫ُق َأُع وُذِب ِّب ٱلَّناِس‬

‫َر‬
Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,

‫َم ِلِك ٱلَّناِس‬

The Sovereign of mankind,

‫ِإَلٰـ ِه ٱلَّناِس‬
‫ْل‬ ‫ْل‬
Recite x3

‫ْس‬
The God of mankind,

‫ِم ن َش ِّر ٱ َو َو اِس ٱ َخ َّناِس‬

From the evil of the retreating whisperer -

‫ْس‬
‫ٱَّلِذ ى ُيَو ِو ُس ِفى ُص ُدوِر ٱلَّناِس‬
‫ْل‬
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -

‫ِم َن ٱ ِج َّنِة َو ٱلَّناِس‬

From among the jinn and mankind."

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said to me, "Recite surah Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu'awwidhatain
(surah Al-Falaq and An-Nas) three times at dawn and dusk. It will suffice you in all
respects". [Tirmidhi] [Al-Ikhlas] [Al-Falaq] [An-Nas]

،‫ِّب ي‬ ‫َا‬ ‫ُه‬ ‫َال‬

‫َّم َت َر‬
O Allah, You are my Lord,

‫ْن‬ ‫ٰل‬
، ‫اَل ِا ِاَّل َأ‬
‫َت‬ ‫َه‬
‫ْق‬
there is none worthy of worship except You,

‫ْب‬
، ‫َخ َل ِني َأَنا ُدَك‬
‫َت َو َع‬
‫ْس ْع‬ ‫ْع‬ ‫ْه‬
You created me and I am Your slave.

‫ُت‬ ‫َط‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ا‬ ‫َك‬ ‫ِد‬ ‫َك‬ ‫ِد‬ ‫ی‬‫َل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫َن‬‫َأ‬
‫َم َت‬ ‫َو َو‬ ‫َو َع َع‬
I am adhering to Your covenant and Your promise as much as I am able to,

‫ْع‬ ‫ْن‬
، ‫َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َش ِّر ا َن ُت‬
‫َص‬ ‫َم‬
I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done.

‫ْع‬
، ‫َأ و َلَك ِب ِن ِتَك َل‬
‫َم َع َّي‬ ‫ُب ُء‬
I admit to You your blessings upon me,

، ‫َأ و ِب َذ ِبي‬

and I admit to my sins.

‫ْر‬
،‫َفا ِف ِلي‬
So forgive me,

‫ْن‬ ‫ْو‬ ‫ْغ‬

‫َأ‬ ‫َّال‬ ‫ِإ‬ ‫ُن‬ ‫ُّذ‬‫ال‬ ‫ِف‬ ‫اَل‬ ‫ُه‬‫ِإَّن‬‫َف‬
‫َت‬ ‫َب‬ ‫ُر‬ ‫َي‬
for there is none who can forgive sins except You.

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Should I not direct you to the chief of supplications for forgiveness (the
above)? None of you says it when he reaches the evening, and a decree comes upon him before
he reaches morning, except that paradise becomes obligatory upon him. And none says it
when he reaches the morning, and a decree comes upon him before he reaches evening, except
that paradise becomes obligatory for him”. [Bukhari] [Tirmidhi]

‫ْل‬ ‫ْل ْف‬ ‫ْس‬

‫الَّلُه َّم ِإِّن ي َأ َأُلَك ا َع َو َو ا َع اِفَيَة‬
O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being,

‫ْن‬
، ‫ِفي الُّد ا اآلِخ ِة‬
‫َر‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َي‬
‫ْل‬ ‫ْل ْف‬
in this world and in the Hereafter.

‫ْس‬
‫الَّلُه َّم ِإِّن ي َأ َأُلَك ا َع َو َو ا َع اِفَيَة‬
‫ْه‬ ‫ْن‬
O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being,

، ‫ا َأ ِلي اِلي‬ ‫ِفي ِديِني‬

‫َو َم‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َو ُد َي َى‬
in my religion and my worldly affairs and my family and my wealth.

، ‫اِتي‬ ‫ْو‬ ‫ْن‬ ‫ آ‬،‫اِتي‬ ‫ْو‬ ‫ْر‬ ‫ْس‬‫ا‬ ‫ال‬
‫َر َع‬ ‫ِم‬ ‫َو‬ ‫ُه َّم ُت َع‬ ‫َّل‬
‫َر‬
‫ْح ْظ‬
O Allah, conceal my faults, calm my fears,

‫الَّلُه ا َف ِني‬
‫َّم‬
‫ْن ْل‬
O Allah, guard me

،‫ ِم َخ ِف ي‬، ‫ِم ِن َد َّي‬ ‫ْي‬ ‫ْن‬

‫َو‬ ‫َي‬ ‫َب‬
‫ْو‬ ‫ْن‬ ‫ْن‬ ‫ْن‬
in front of me and behind me,

،‫ ِم َف ِق ي‬،‫ِش اِلي‬ ،‫ِم يِني‬

‫َو‬ ‫َو َع َم‬ ‫َو َع َي‬
from my right and my left, and from above me.

‫ْن ْح‬ ‫ْن ْغ‬

‫َأُع وُذِب َظ ِتَك َأ ُأ اَل ِم َت ِتي‬
‫َت‬ ‫َع َم‬ ‫َو‬
and I seek refuge in Your Greatness from being struck from beneath me.

The Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬never abandoned these supplications, every morning and evening.

‫َنا‬ ‫َأ‬ ‫ِب‬
‫ُه َّم َك‬‫َّل‬‫ال‬
‫َب‬
O Allah, by You we enter the morning,

‫َنا‬ ‫ْي‬ ‫ْم‬

‫َو ِب َك َأ‬
‫َس‬
and by You we enter the evening.

‫ْح‬
‫و‬ ‫ا‬
‫َو ِب َك َن َي َو َك َنُم ُت‬
‫ِب‬
By You we live, and by You we die,

‫ْي‬
‫ِإَل َك الُّنُش و‬
‫ُر‬ ‫َو‬
and to You is the resurrection.

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬used to teach his companions; “When one of you reach the
morning, then let him say (the above)”. [Tirmidhi]

‫ا َق ُّيو‬ ‫ا‬

‫ُم‬ ‫َي‬ ‫َي َح ُّي‬

O Ever-Living One, O Eternal One

‫ي‬ ‫ْس‬ ‫ْح‬

‫ِب َر َم ِتَك َأ َت ِغ ُث‬
‫ْأ‬
by Your mercy I call on You

‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ْح‬ ‫ْص‬

‫ُه‬‫َّل‬‫ُك‬ ‫ِن‬ ‫َأ ِل ِل َش‬
‫ْف‬ ‫ْل‬
to set right all my affairs

‫ال َت ِك ِني ِإَلى َن ِس ي‬

‫َو‬
Do not place me in charge of my soul,

‫ْي‬
‫َط َر َفَة َع ٍن‬
even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment).

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said to Fatimah; “What could prevent you from listening to the advice I
give you? You should say when morning comes and when evening comes (the above)".
[Nasa'i], [Al-Hakim]

O Allah, I ask You for

‫ْل ًا ًا‬
‫ِع م َناِفع‬
knowledge that is of benefit,

‫ْز ًا ًا‬
‫ِر ق َط ِّي ب‬
a good provision,
‫َو‬
‫ًال‬ ‫ًال‬
‫َّب‬ ‫َق‬ ‫َو َع َم ُمَت‬
and deeds that will be accepted.

The Prophet ‫ﷺ‬, performed the Subh (morning prayer), while he said the salam, he would
recite (the above). [Ibn Majah]

‫ْن ْع‬ ‫ْص‬
‫الَّلُه َّم َم ا َأ َح ِب ي ِم ِن َم ٍة‬
‫َب‬
O Allah, whatever favour has come to me,

‫ْن ْل‬ ‫ْو‬

‫َأ ِب َأَح ٍد ِم َخ ِق َك‬
or to any of Thy creatures,

‫ْن‬‫ْح‬
‫َك‬ ‫َل‬ ‫َك‬‫ي‬ ‫َفِم َك َو َد َك اَل َش ِر‬
it comes from Thee alone. Who has no partner;

‫ْك‬ ‫ْل ْم‬

‫َفَلَك ا َح ُد َو َلَك الُّش‬
‫ ُر‬praise is due and thanksgiving.
to Thee

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said, "If anyone says (the above) in the morning, he will have expressed
full thanksgiving for the day; and if anyone says the same in the evening, he will have
expressed full thanksgiving for the night". [Abu Dawud]

We rise upon the fitrah of Islam,

‫ْخ‬
، ‫َلٰى َك ِل ِة اِإْل اَل ِص‬
‫َم‬
and the word of pure faith,
‫َع‬ ‫َو‬
‫ْي‬
، ‫َلٰى ِد ِن َنِبِّي َنا َّم ٍد ﷺ‬
‫َح‬ ‫ُم‬ ‫َع‬ ‫َو‬
and upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad ‫ﷺ‬,

‫ًم‬
‫ِن ا ِل ا ا‬ ‫ْس‬ ‫ًف‬ ‫ْي‬ ‫ْي‬ ‫ْب‬ ‫ْي‬
‫َلٰى ِمَّلِة َأِب َنا ِإ ا‬
‫َو َم‬ ‫ِه‬
‫َر ْل ْشَم َح ْي ُم‬ ‫َو َع‬
‫َك اَن ِم ا ُم ِر ِك‬
‫َن‬ ‫َن‬
and the religion of our forefather Ibraheem, who was a
Muslim and of true faith and was not of those who associate
others with Allah.

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬recited these words as supplication. [Ahmad]

#MindfulDhikr

‫الَّلُه َّم ِإِّن ي َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َن ا َه ِّم َو ا َح َز ِن‬

‫ْل‬ ‫ْل ْج‬
O Allah, I seek refuge with You from worry and grief,

‫َو َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َن ا َع ِز َو ا َك َس ِل‬

‫ْل ْخ‬ ‫ْل‬
I seek refuge with You from incapacity and laziness,

‫ْب‬
‫َو َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َن ا ُج ِن َو ا ُب ِل‬
‫ْه‬
I seek refuge with You from cowardice and miserliness,

‫ْي‬ ‫ْن‬
‫َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َغ َل ِة الَّد ِن َق ِر الِّر اِل ‏‬
‫َج‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َب‬
I seek refuge with You from being heavily in debt and from being
‫َو‬
overpowered by (other) men.

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬entered the masjid. He saw a man from the Ansar called Abu Umamah .
He ‫ ﷺ‬asked, “What is the matter? Why are you sitting in the mosque when it is not the time for
prayer?” He replied: “Never-ending worries and debts, O Messenger of Allah.”

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬asked, “Shall I not teach you words by which, when you say them, Allah
will remove your worries, and settle your debts?” He replied, “Yes of course, O Messenger of
Allah.” He ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Say in the morning and evening (the above).” Abu Umamah said, “Then I did
that and Allah removed my worries and settled my debts”.

‫ْل ْم‬ ‫ْل ْل‬ ‫ْص‬ ‫ْص ْح‬
، ‫ا ُم ُك ِلَّلِه ا ُد ِلَّلِه‬ ‫َأ‬ ‫َنا‬ ‫َأ‬
‫َو َح‬ ‫َح‬ ‫َب‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َب‬
We have entered the morning
and at this very time the whole kingdom belongs to Allah. Praise is due to Allah.

‫ْح‬
، ‫َال ِإَل ِإَّال الَّلُه َد َال َش ِر يَك َلُه‬
‫ُه‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َه‬
‫ْم‬ ‫ْل‬ ‫ْل‬ ‫ْل‬
There is no god but Allah, the One having no partner with Him.

، ‫َلُها ُم ُك َلُها ُد ُه َلى ُكِّل َش ْي ٍء َق ِد يٌر‬

‫َع‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َح‬ ‫َو‬
‫ْل‬
His is the Sovereignty and to Him is praise due and He is Potent over everything.

‫ْع‬ ‫ْي‬ ‫ْي‬ ‫ْس‬

، ‫ِّب َأ َأُلَك َخ ا ِفي َه َذ ا ا وِم َخ ا َد‬
‫ ُه‬I beg‫ َب‬of‫ َم‬Thee
‫ َر‬good ‫ َي‬lies in this day‫ َم‬and
‫ َو‬that ‫ َر‬good that follows‫ َر‬it.
‫ْل‬
My Lord,

‫ْع‬ ‫ْن‬
، ‫َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َش ِّر ا ِفي َه َذ ا ا وِم َش ِّر ا َد‬
‫ُه‬ ‫َب‬ ‫َم‬ ‫َو‬ ‫َي‬ ‫َم‬
And I seek refuge in Thee from the evil that lies in this day and from the evil that
‫َو‬
follows it.

، ‫ وِء الِك ِر‬، ‫ِّب َأُع وُذِب َك ِم ا َك ِل‬

‫ا ي اْل ْب‬
My Lord, I seek refuge in Thee from laziness, from the evil of old age.

‫ْن‬
‫َر ِّب َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َع َذ اٍب ِفي الَّناِر َو َع َذ ٍب ِف َق ِر‬
My Lord, I seek refuge in Thee from torment of the Hell-Fire and from
torment of the grave.

When it was morning, Allah's Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬used to supplicate (the above).

Knower of the unseen and the seen, there is none worthy of worship except You,

‫ي‬ ‫ٍء‬ ‫ْي‬

‫َر َّب ُكِّل َش َو َم ِل َك ُه‬
‫ْف‬
Lord of everything and its Owner,

‫ْي‬ ‫ْن‬ ‫ْن‬

‫َأُع وُذِب َك ِم َش ِّر َن ِس ي َو ِم َش ِّر الَّش َطاِن َو َش ِكِه‬
‫َر‬ I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul and

‫ى ْف ي وًءا ْو‬ ‫ْن ْق‬

from the evil of Shaitan and his shirk,

‫ى ْس‬
‫َو َأ َأ َت ِر َف َع َل َن ِس ُس َأ َأُجَّر ُهِإَل ُم ِلٍم‬
or that I should do some evil to myself or bring it upon a Muslim.

Abu Bakr As-Siddiq said; “O Messenger of Allah, teach me what to say at morning and
afternoon.” He said, “O Abu Bakr, say (the above).” [Tirmidhi]

We have reached the morning, and in the morning the dominion belongs to Allah,

the Lord of the universe.

‫ِم‬ ‫َذ‬ ‫َك َخ َر َه‬ ‫ُل‬ ‫َأ‬ ‫َأ‬ ‫ِّن‬ ‫ِإ‬ ‫ُه َّم‬‫َّل‬

O Allah! I ask Thee for the good of this day:

‫ْص‬ ‫ْت‬
‫َك ُه ُه َد ا‬ ‫ُنو‬ ‫َن‬ ‫ُه‬ ‫َف‬
‫ َت َو‬victory,
‫ُه‬for conquest, ‫َب‬ ‫َو‬ ‫ُه‬ ‫َر‬ ‫َو‬ ‫ُه‬
‫ َر‬light, blessing‫َر‬and guidance ‫َو‬ ‫َح‬
‫ْع‬ ‫ْن‬
‫َد‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ِّر‬ ‫َش‬ ‫ِه‬‫ي‬ ‫ِف‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ِّر‬ ‫َش‬ ‫ِم‬ ‫َك‬ ‫ِب‬‫ُذ‬ ‫و‬ ‫ُع‬‫َأ‬
‫ُه‬and I ‫َب‬seek‫ َم‬refuge‫ َو‬in Thee‫َم‬from the evil it contains‫َو‬
and the evil that follows.

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, 'When one rises in the morning, one should say (the
above)'. In the evening he should say the equivalent. [Abu Dawud]

Allah is most exceedingly great

and praise is due to Allah in abundance

‫يًال‬ ‫ًة‬ ‫ا ال‬ ‫ْب‬

‫َو َأِص‬ ‫ُب‬ ‫َّلِه‬ ‫َن‬ ‫َح‬ ‫َو ُس‬
‫َر‬
and glory to Allah in the morning and the evening.

While we said prayer with the Messenger of Allah ‫ﷺ‬, one among the people said (the above). The
Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬asked, 'Who uttered such and such a word?' A person replied, 'It is I, Messenger of Allah
‫'ﷺ‬. He ‫ ﷺ‬said, 'It (its utterance) surprised me, for the doors of heaven were opened for it.' Ibn
Umar said, 'I have not abandoned them (these words) since I heard the Messenger of Allah ‫ﷺ‬
saying this'. [Muslim]
In another narration; the Prophet of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, 'Twelve angels rushed (to take them up)'.

Glory is to Allah and Praise is to Him,

by the multitude of His creation,

‫َو ِر َض ا َن ِس ِه‬

by His pleasure,

‫ْر‬
‫َو ِز َنَة َع ِش ِه‬
by the weight of His throne,

‫َو ِم َد اَد َك ِلَم اِتِه‬

and by the extent of His words.

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said, "I recited four words, three times after I had left you. If these are to be
weighed against all you have recited since morning, these will be heavier". [Muslim] [Abu Dawud]

I am pleased with Allah as my Lord,

with Islam as my religion

and with Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬as my Prophet.

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "Whoever recites when he reaches the morning/evening, it is a
duty upon Allah SWT to please him.” [Tirmidhi]
In another narration, the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "If anyone says (the above), Paradise will
be his due". [Abu Dawud]

and He is the All Hearing, All Knowing.

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave.

There is no god but You.

Abu Bakrah narrates that he told his father; O my father! I hear you supplicating every morning: (the
above). You repeat them three times in the morning and three times in the evening. He said; I heard the
Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬using these words as a supplication and I like to follow his practice. [Abu Dawud]

to bear witness that You are Allah.

There is no God but You alone. You have no partners,

‫َك‬‫َو َأَّن ُمَح َّم َع ُدَك َو َر ُس ُل‬
and that Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬Your slave and messenger.

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said, "Whosoever recites in the morning/evening once, Allah frees a quarter of
him from hell. If recited twice, Allah frees half of him from hell. If recited thrice, Allah frees three-
quarters of him from hell. If recited four times, Allah frees him completely from Hell".
[Abu Dawud]

Allah is sufficient for me.

Allah will suffice him in everything which concerns him. [Abu Dawud], [At-Taubah: 129]

His is the dominion and His is the praise,

He gives life and causes death,

and He has power over everything.

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "Whoever says at the end of every Fajr prayer (the above), while
his feet are still folded, before speaking, ten times; then ten good deeds shall be written for him,
ten evil deeds shall be wiped away from him, ten degrees shall be raised up for him, and he
shall be in security all that day from every disliked thing, he shall be in protection from
Shaitan, and no sin will meet him or destroy him that day, except for associating partners with
Allah". [Tirmidhi]

How perfect is Allah, and I praise Him

one hundred times, he would not bring on the Day of Resurrection anything excellent than
this, except one who utters these words or utters more than these words”. [Muslim]

Allah's Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬said, "Whoever says (the above), one hundred times will get the same
reward as given for set free ten slaves; and one hundred good deeds will be written in his
accounts, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his accounts, and it (his saying) will be a
shield for him from Satan on that day till night, and nobody will be able to do a better deed
except the one who does more than he". [Bukhari]

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, 'Whoever says the tasbih (Subhan Allah) one hundred times
following the morning prayer, and the tahlil (La ilaha illa Allah) one hundred times, he will be
forgiven his sins even if they are like the foam of the sea.' [Nasa'i]

I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him one hundred
times each day". [Ibn Majah] [Muslim]
In another narration, the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "He who seeks repentance (from the Lord)
before the rising of the sun from the west (before the Day of Resurrection), Allah turns to him
with Mercy". [Muslim]
Furthermore, the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said, "If anyone continually asks pardon, Allah will appoint for him a
way out of every distress, and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide for him from
where he did not reckon". [Abu Dawud]

Allah‫ُر‬is the Greatest

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Whoever glorifies Allah a hundred times in the morning and a
hundred in the night, he is like one who performs Hajj a hundred times. And whoever praises
Allah a hundred times in the morning and a hundred in the night, he is like one who provides a
hundred horses in the cause of Allah – or he said – went out on a hundred military
expeditions. And whoever pronounced At-Tahlil of Allah a hundred times in the night, he is like
the one who freed a hundred slaves from the offspring of Isma`il, and whoever extols Allah’s
greatness a hundred times in the day and a hundred in the night, none shall bring
on that day, more than what he brought, except one who said similar to what he
said, or increased upon it.” [Tirmidhi]

Allah‫ُر‬is the Greatest

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "Every morning charity is due from every joint bone of the
body, of every one of you. Every utterance of Allah's Glorification (Subhan-Allah) is an act of
charity, and every utterance of praise of Him (Al-hamdu lillah) is an act of charity, and every
utterance of profession of Faith (La ilaha illallah) is an act of charity, and every utterance of His
Greatness (Allahu Akbar) is an act of charity; and enjoining good is an act of charity and
forbidding what is disreputable is an act of charity; and two Rak'ah prayer which one offers in
the forenoon (Ad- Duha) will suffice for all this". [Riyad as-Salihin]
In addition, the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "The uttering of the words (the above) is dearer to

‫الَّلُه َّم َص ِّل َع َلى ُمَح َّم ٍد‬

O Allah, send salah upon Muhammad

‫َع َلى آِل ُمَح َّم ٍد‬

‫َو‬
and upon the family of Muhammad

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "Whoever sends salah upon me once, Allah will send salah
upon him tenfold, and will erase ten sins from him, and will raise him ten degrees". [Nasa'i]
Furthermore, the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬explained, "Send salah upon me and strive hard in
supplication, and say (the above)". [Nasa'i]
 Qur'an Witnessed

‫ٱ ْي‬ ‫ْم‬
‫َأِق ِم ٱلَّص َلٰو َة ِلُدُلوِك ٱلَّش ِس ِإَلٰى َغ َس ِق َّل ِل‬
‫ْل ْج‬
Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night

ۖ ‫ُقْر ا ٱ َف ِر‬
‫َو َء َن‬
and [also] the Quran [i.e., recitation] of dawn.

‫ْش‬ ‫ْج‬ ‫ْل‬

‫ُه وًۭدا‬ ‫ِإَّن ُقْر ا ٱ َف ِر َك ا‬
‫َم‬ ‫َن‬ ‫َن‬ ‫َء‬
Indeed, the [Quran] recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.
[Al-Isra: 78]

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, "And recite the Qur'an during the Fajr. Verily, the
recitation of the Qur'an during Fajr is ever witnessed". He ‫ ﷺ‬said, "It is witnessed by
the angels of the night and the day". [Ibn Majah], [Bukhari]
Bless your day, by being consistent, even if little. We are reminded, '...the most beloved
deed to Allah is the most regular and consistent even if it were little'. [Bukhari]
