Plan a balanced diet with the functions of 6 nutrients:

Diet: Sandwich
Top bread – carbohydrate, starch
Content:
Thin Slices of tomatoe (vitamin c [helps skin stay strong and
heal wounds]
Slice of cottage cheese (fat [energy, cell membrane], calcium
[keeps bone and teeth strong])
Chicken in minced form (protein[building new cells, fat
[energy + making cell membranes] + cholesterol)
Sheets of Lettuce (green vegetable, Vitamin A [improve and
maintains strong eyesight] + Iron [makes haemoglobin in
RBC]
Capsicum and bell peppers (dark green vegetable, Vitamin A
[improve and maintains strong eyesight] + Iron [makes
haemoglobin in RBC] )
Chillis (vitamin c [helps skin stay strong and heal wounds])
Olive oil (fat/oil/triglyceride [energy, cell membrane]
Bottom bread – carbohydrate, starch
2. Draw and list the functions of different types of blood cells.
[RBC, Type B Lymphocyte, Type T Lymphocyte, Phagocyte]
Incomplete GC questions:
1. Explain inspiration and expiration,
2. Write down the equations for respiration
1. Inspiration is the biophysical process, otherwise known as
inhalation, during which the body inspires (takes in) air from the
atmosphere into our lungs to receive oxygen from the
atmosphere, required for cellular respiration. The process occurs
through the contraction of the intercoastal muscles and
diaphragm, which result in the decrease in volume within the
force, leading to increased air pressure, finally causing air to be
vacuumed into the body first ingested through the mouth and the
nasal cavity
Expiration is the biophysical process, otherwise known as
Exhalation, during which, unnecessary gases (nitrogen, argon
and others) and waste products (carbon dioxide, water vapour)
that the body does not require are returned to the atmosphere
through the increase in air pressure within the thorax, which is
done by relaxation of diaphragm and intercostal muscles.
2. C6H12O6 + O2 = H2O + CO2 + 34-36 ATP [aerobic], C6+H12+O6
= C3H6O3 (lactic acid) + 3-4 ATP [anaerobic], C6H12O6 =(yeast)=
C2H3OH (ethanol) + CO2 + 3-4 ATP [fermentation]
