Introduction
The Liquor Ban is a policy that forbids both the consumption and purchase of
alcohol, imposing penalties on those who violate it. As noted by Caliwan (2022),
these penalties aim to instill discipline and ensure strict compliance to prevent
potential disturbances. By restricting alcohol, the policy aims to enhance the overall
health of the population, addressing issues such as liver damage, cardiac problems,
alcohol-induced accidents resulting in fatalities, and various other health concerns.

In our generation, alcohol-related issues extend beyond health, crimes, and

accidents. In San Jose City, Philippines, lax monitoring and implementation allow
teenagers easy access to alcohol, including beer and hard drinks, in grocery and
convenience stores. Despite the legal drinking age being set at 18, as stated by
Revilla (2017), underage drinking is prevalent. This leniency contributes to various
problems, including cases of violence, sexual and drug abuse, and suicide among
Filipino teenagers, often attributed to drunkenness and alcohol intoxication. This
growing concern impacts society, particularly youth behaviors, and raises questions
about the cultural implications in our country.

Many problems arise due to alcohol abuse or too much consumption of liquor.
Such problems are violence, addiction, health problems, and incidents caused by
drunkenness. (Galbicsek, 2023) The prohibition will probably help a lot because the
table will turn and problems in alcohol will be resolved. There are laws supporting
the liquor ban or the prohibition of consumption of alcohol. Senate Bill No. 2636,
introduced by Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., is commonly referred to as a law that
prohibits minors' access to alcohol and imposes penalties on establishments providing
alcohol to minors. Additionally, Republic Act No. 3843, known as an amendment to
Act Numbered Twenty-Two Hundred and Eighty-Seven, restricts the sale of
intoxicating liquors in specific regions, namely the Mountain Province, Nueva
Vizcaya, and Agusan, with exceptions in designated districts.
Hence, this study will be focused on the effectiveness of the implementation
of liquor ban in Brgy. Abar 1st, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, in the year 2023.
