LISTENING SECTION

In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand
spoken English. There are 2 parts to this section, with special directions for each part.

Part I. Pictures.

Questions : 1 to 6
Directions :
For each item, there is a picture in your test paper and four short statements about it on the
tape. These statements will be spoken twice. But are NOT WRITTEN out in your test paper,
so you must listen carefully. You must choose one statement- (A), (B), (C), or (D)- that best
describes the picture. Then, on your answer sheet, mark your choice. Example:
Look at the picture and listen to the four statements about the picture:

A. She is doing a aerobics.

B. She is cycling.
C. She is cleaning the kitchen.
D. She is cooking.

Choice (D)- “She is cooking”- best describes what is seen in the picture. Therefore, you
should mark ( D ) on your answer sheet. Now let’s begin with number one.

B. The woman is fat
C. The woman is wearing glasses
D. The woman has long curly hair

No. 2.
Look at the picture number 2
A. Many people are playing football
B. They are playing sand on the beach

Look at the picture number 3
A. The doctor is examining the patient
B. The nurse is giving medicine
C. They are having the meeting
D. The patient is sitting on the chair

A. The building is small
B. There are many cars around the building
C. There are many people in front of the building
D. No one is in the building

No. 5.
Look at the picture number 5
A. They are having lunch
B. They are cycling together
C. They are cleaning the yard
D. They are selling the bicycle

No. 6.
Look at the picture number 6
A. There are some chairs in the room
B. There are some books on the floor
C. Nothing is on the table
D. There is a computer on the table
Part II. Questions and Responses

Questions : 7 to 12
Directions :
In this part of the test, you will hear several questions spoken in English, followed by three
responses, also spoken in English. The question and responses will be spoken twice. They
will not be printed in your test book, so you must listen carefully to understand what the
speakers are saying. You have to choose the best responses to each question.
Now listen to a sample question:
You will hear:
Man : Good morning, Arinda? How are you today?
Woman : ( A ) I am well, thank you.
( B ) I am waiting for you this morning.
( C ) How is everything?

Choice (A)- “I’m fine, thank you”- is the appropriate response to the questions “ How are
you today?” therefore, you should mark ( A ) on your answer sheet.

Man : A. Hi, Nanda is my friend.
B. I am sorry. I don’t know you,

Woman : Sst … Don’t be noisy. He is studying now.
Man : A. I’ m sorry. Oke.
B. Studying is important.
C. It isn’t my business.
No. 9.
Man : Congratulation, you got the promotion to the higher position.
Woman : A. Yes, promotion is important.
B. Thank you very much. You are my best friend.
C. You are higher than me.

No. 10.
Woman : What are you going to do next holiday?
Man : A. We will have our holiday.
B. We are going to go to Bali.
C. Tomorrow is holiday.
No. 11.
Woman : Why didn’t you go to my house last night?
Man : A. My house is broken.
B. I was busy. I had something to do.
C. It is cold at night.

No. 12.
Man : What a lovely dress you are wearing!
Woman : A. Thank you for saying so
B. I give it special for you
C. She’s wearing special dress
