The purpose of this method statement is to follow proper activities of survey work for setting of grid lines
and recording of existing ground level to carry out excavation and other works in the all buildings in
project as per specification/drawings. It shall be done by experienced surveyor as per the relevant
specification/drawing and to the full satisfaction of the Engineer-in-charge.

2. Tools and Equipments:


All tools and tackles required for the complete execution and completion the work shall be arranged well
in advance.
The list of tools to be required for the work as follows:-
2.1 Personnel Protective Equipments
2.2 Total station
2.3 Leveling machine
2.4 Trowel
2.5 Plumb bob
2.6 Measuring tape
2.7 Thread or Line Dori etc.
2.8 Mason’s hammer
2.9 Bucket for handling mortar
2.10 Mortar mixing G.I. tray (at least 2*2 meter)
2.11 Sieving arrangement to sieve the sand
2.12 Straight Edge
2.13 Spade
2.14 Measuring box (size-250X350X400 mm)
2.15 Excavating machine

3. Materials required:
3.1 Ordinary Portland Cement as per IS:269-2015
3.2 Drinking water as per IS:456-2000
3.3 Sand as per IS:2116-1980
3.4 Bricks as per IS 1077-1992

4. Engineering works:
As receipt of drawings, the Engineer-in-charge shall review the received drawings and discuss with their
senior for any technical doubts and clarifications.

5. Responsibility:
5.1 The Engineer-in-charge will be responsible for implementing everything in this method
statement.
5.2 Safety officer will ensure that all safety procedures and measures are implemented in relation to
the type of work being done according to the project’s HSE plan.
5.3 QA/QC representative will be responsible for the implementation of QA/QC work as spelled out
in the Quality Management Plan.

6.3 Recovery Measures:


6.3.1 In case any undesired event or incident does happen at the work site or residential camp, in spite
of the essential HSE protection systems and procedures are in place, the same shall be handled in
such a way as to reduce the severity of human injury or damages and to regain control within the
least possible time.
6.3.2 In incidents of major nature such as those resulting in fatalities, severe human injuries, fire and
explosion and natural calamities like rain, wind, sand storm etc.
6.3.3 Work will be stopped immediately and appropriate emergency response procedures adopted as
per procedures of company.
6.3.4 The matter will be communicated to key personnel by the easiest available means, seeking
assistance and advice.
6.3.5 Further work will be started only on getting clearance from senior management.
6.3.6 Tool box meeting will be conducted of all employees to explain the HSE part of the incident, the
immediate and underlining causes of the incident and the corrective/control measures that are
essential to prevent further occurrences of similar incidents.

6.3.7 Detailed investigation will be made into the incident, other than natural calamities, and the
learning points disseminated to the work force.
6.3.8 In less serious cases, first aid or clinical aid shall be extended to injured victims if any and the
matter intimated to all concerned including client. Adequate first aid boxes shall be in place and
trained first aiders provided at site.

7. Procedure for Survey work:


7.1 Site shall be cleaned and levelled with minor cutting/filling.
7.2 Surveyor shall mark the grid pillars 1 metre away from actual excavation line.
7.3 Mason shall construct the grid pillar with brickwork where marking is done. Grid pillar sizes
shall be at least 500*500 mm and 500 mm above the ground level. It should be plastered properly
at top and in true level.
7.4 Surveyor shall mark the grid line and level also over the pillar which is transferred from
road/railway station. And it shall be barricaded properly to avoid damage during further
construction activities.
7.5 Marking of plots and actual boundaries and setting up of grid lines in both directions and locating
centre line of columns/foundations/retaining walls shall be done by surveyor.
7.6 Establish temporary bench mark for level control with reference to bench mark taken from
road/railway station and protect it by barricading to avoid any disturbance.
7.7 Surveyor shall record all natural ground levels before start the excavation works. Record levels of
existing structures also.

8. Documentation: Checklists shall be maintained by site Engineer/Surveyor for the work.
