TRADITIONAL GAMES CULMINATING ACTIVITY
“Pagbalik-Tanaw sa Nakaraan,Husay at Sigla ng PEstudyante”

Participants: 1ST -3RD Year Bachelor of Physical Education Students

Caba/Labba Race is one of the Cultural Sports Competition being played during
the foundation day of Ifugao known as the “Gotad ad Ifugao.” It is a game for
women, where a basket full of crops, usually camote, is placed on top of their
heads as they race. It is played by teams of ten women each. This traditional
game took place with the aim of showcasing and preserving cultural heritage
through engaging and entertaining traditional games and this culminating activity
aimed to bring people together, fostering a sense of community and shared
experiences and promoting inclusivity in the BPEd Studentry.
We are given a task to Facilitate the 4th game which is the Caba or Labba Race .
As the Facilitator we observed a prolonged delay before the game started due to
equipment issues. Some teams couldn't use the "likon" as base of Labba to be
placed on the head because it wasn't tied properly, making it easy to dislodge.
Furthermore, there were no extra likons available, causing an additional delay in
starting the game. We rushed to help to fix it and When the Game started there is
no problem about the likons anymore because it is already fix. At the Middle of
the game we have some problems with the likon because some are untangled.
Some of the groups make it more widers which is reason for the likon to break
but Despite these problem, we think the participants still enjoyed the game and
ended it successfully. Challenges: Declining interest among youth due to modern
technology, lack of promotion, and urbanization. Preservation efforts: Community
workshops, school programs, and cultural festivals promoting traditional games.

Conclusion:
Philippine traditional games play a vital role in cultural heritage and
community bonding. Efforts to preserve and promote these games are crucial for
passing on this aspect of Filipino identity to future generations.Caba (Labba)
Race represents a unique aspect of indigenous culture in the Philippines,
embodying tradition, skill, and community spirit. Continued efforts are necessary
to preserve and promote this traditional game as part of the country's cultural
heritage.This Culminating Activity effectively achieved its goal of celebrating
cultural heritage and fostering a sense of community. The demonstration served
as a reminder of the joy and camaraderie that traditional games can bring, and it
successfully blended entertainment with cultural education
Recommendations:
Support for community-led initiatives to organize Caba races and cultural
events. Collaboration with indigenous groups to document and safeguard
traditional knowledge associated with the race. Integration of Caba (Labba)
Race into cultural tourism programs to raise awareness and support
sustainable development.
Collaboration with local governments for cultural events highlighting
traditional games. Utilization of digital platforms for outreach and
education about traditional games.
