school created a super fun design of a candy cake.
This festive cake is a joy for every birthday girl or boy.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?
• Crochet cotton: 2 balls each of
red, blue, yellow, green, 3 balls
of orange, 1-2 balls each of pink,
fuchsia, white, light brown, silver
sparkle
• 3 mm crochet hook
• Styrofoam cake dummies: 1 x
Ø 15 cm and 7 cm tall, 1 x Ø 20 cm
and 10 cm tall, 1 x Ø 25 cm and

Crochet 6 rounds of white. Crochet
another ‘bottom’ with white (Rnds 1-30).

8 hdc in the MR, join with 1 sl st in the
1st ch. Fasten off. Make another round
patch. Place both patches, right sides out,
on top of each other and crochet 8 sl st
all around. Leave a long tail for sewing the
patch onto the cake later on.

SWEETHEARTS (12 X)
Make a MR with white. Work into the MR:
2 ch, 3 tr, 3 dc, 1 ch, 1 tr, 1 ch, 3 dc, 3 tr,
2 ch, 1 sl st in the MR. Pull the MR tight
and fasten off. Make another sweetheart.
Place both hearts, right sides out, on
top of each other and crochet sl st all
around. Leave a long tail for sewing the
heart onto the cake later on. Sew short
words with the little letter beads (e.g. kiss,
smart, nice, sweet, cool, cute) onto the
front of the heart.

2 gum balls between the lollipops. Attach
the 6 hearts evenly spaced on top of the
middle cake. With silver, crochet a chain
of ch. Form the word “HOORAY” with
this chain and sew it with small stitches
onto the bottom cake. Sew the bunting
around the side of the orange part of the
largest cake. Sew the 6 candys (toffees)
evenly divided on the side of the smallest
cake. Attach the ice creams on top, in the
middle of the smallest cake and with the
points facing each other. Sew the smart-
ies at equal distances along the edge of
the top cake.

ASSEMBLING FLOWERS
Using the crochet hook, pull the Moss
Green starting thread through the MR
inside the flower. Make a triple knot
and pull it against the MR. The crochet
hook is now on top of the outside of the
flower. Crochet 5 sc tightly around the
2 blue threads and cut the green thread
to the same length. You now have 1 green
and 2 blue threads. Make 2 knots .
Insert one thread with the needle
through a crochet stitch in the hat, make
2 knots, and weave the threads into the
hat one by one. Arrange the flowers over
the hat and let a few fall slightly over the
edge. Crochet a few more as desired.
The example has 16 flowers. Embroider
two small circles as eyes just below
the edge of the hat, and slightly lower,
embroider a line as a mouth. Apply some
blush to the cheeks.

Insert the tip of the skewer through the
hole in the head (bead) and slightly into
the hat. If necessary, secure it with a glue
gun. Attach the stem to the head with
small running stitches using the needle
and 40 cm of thread that is still attached
to the head. Weave in the end. For the
leaves, cut 6 binding threads of 16 cm
each with the old scissors (3 for the
grape hyacinth, 1 for the stem with
flower buds, and 2 for the leaves at
this stem) .
Crochet the 5 leaves in the same way.
Bend a little loop of 0.5 cm at one side
of the binding wire. Repeat for every leaf.

LEAF
Start with Moss Green at the right side of
the stem and crochet:

For the grape hyacinth make 20 wraps
with Offwhite yarn around your hand
with a length of about 10 cm on each
side. Tightly tie a 20 cm long Offwhite
yarn to one end of the bundle. Cut the
threads of the bundle unevenly until you
have 40 loose threads. Repeat for the
small plant with 10 wraps with a length of
6 cm. On the taupe-colored cloth,
determine where the roots should go.
Insert both ends of the 20 cm long yarn
through the crochet work and sew it in
place on the inside.
Do the same with the smaller bunch .

FINISHING
Turn the bottom with the pink side up
and place the taupe part, with the roots
hanging outward, in the middle. In the
same way, thread it onto one long side.
Fold the taupe fabric around the bottom
of the crocheted part of the 2 rings.
Thread the short side halfway to the
rings, wrap around the ring, and continue
threading. Leave a part and a corner open

and the 3 mm crochet hook. Place a
stitch marker, crochet 18 stitches and

(= 68). Fasten off. With the 30 stitches on
both sides, the dress will be tied together
later on.
Rnd 1: start at the stitch marker, crochet
