Solid deflocculating agents

NATURE
nº EINECS 229-912-9 DEFLOC® SP 24 and DEFLOC® SH 16 are complete solid
deflocculating systems, based on sodium salts of polysilicic acids
and sodium salts of polimerized organic/inorganic acids.
They increase the pH value of the slips thereby encouraging
deflocculation. They act by modifying the zeta potential and by
cancelling out the forces of attraction between solid particles in an
aqueous solution thus preventing the formation of agglomerates.

PROPERTIES
• Quick solubility in water, without forming lumps.
• They allow high solid contents to be achieved in slips, by
optimising the milling process.
• They improve rheological behaviour.

• They have chelating/precipitating properties on unwanted cations,
such as the calcium ion.
• They reduce rejection at milling.

 FIELDS OF APPLICATION
DEFLOC® SP 24 and DEFLOC® SH 16, are dispersing agents,
specially developed for the deflocculation of clays in the ceramic
industry, and particularly for red and white bodies.
These products can be added directly at the mill as previously
weighted solids. They act more rapidly if they are first dissolved in
water and batched as a liquid.
Dosage depends on:
• Water quality, hardness and soluble anions (Cl-, SO42-,…)
• The density of the slip, which in turn depends on the
mineralogical and morphological characteristics of the
body, especially of clay.
Normal doses are between 0.4% and 1.0%, depending on the
previously mentioned factors. The activity of the product must be
checked by means of experimental deflocculation curves for each
type of body.

Hygroscopic products. Keep closed, in original container. Store in
