We exist to bring together world-leading and inspiring speakers with a passionate
international student delegation.

Over the last two decades, we have had the pleasure of hosting distinguished speakers
from across the world to provide a forum that encourages the exchange of stimulating
and challenging ideas from people of diverse backgrounds.

As a student-led, not-for-profit conference, our commitments lay in curating a world-class
centre of discussion where our delegates can challenge, and be challenged on
internationally relevant topics. Through sparking conversations, we want to explore the
perspectives that have had a significant impact on our world while inspiring thought on
the ideas that will affect our future.

Now, in our 23rd edition, we remain committed to our central mission. However, we hope
to extend our debate further, facilitate greater opportunities for discussion and debate, Samin Sabah Islam
and continue to invite diverse voices representative of our world. As a forum that
connects the world’s leaders with the world’s future changemakers, we are excited to
explore the societal importance of young people and the intellectual ties that bind the
greatest minds of today with the aspiring leaders of tomorrow.

To encourage a wider audience and maximise participation across the
globe, we are eager to deliver WES 2024 in-person at the University of
Warwick, with an online live feed for virtual viewing! Participants can look
forward to exciting in-person speeches from some of the most influential
people and also tune into virtual sessions if they cannot attend due to
commitments or travel restrictions. Our vision is to host an engaging
summit, combining speakers and audiences from diverse backgrounds,
designations and perspectives.

The 12th edition of the Summit proved
more popular than ever as internal
tickets sold out in just 12 minutes, a new
record for student-run events at
Warwick's Student Union.
2002 The Beginning
When the first Warwick Economics
2005 Summit took place in January 2002 it
was the first ever inter-university
undergraduate economics event in the
UK.
2006 Summit Expands Nationally
The Summit expands nationally while
2008 regularly attracting the biggest names in
Economics, Business and Politics –
including Dr. Vince Cable.
2010 The Chancellor Speaks
The Summit hosted Alistair Darling,
former member of UK's parliament, who
2013 spoke of his and the then Labour
government's commitment to deficit
reduction.

2017 Power Entangled
In 2017, WES became truly global. All eyes
and media outlets were on us as we hosted
Arrival of the Head of State 2019 Stanley Fischer, the Vice Chairman of the
Federal Reserve, only a few weeks before
