MY REFLECTION

The Mental Health Act (RA11036) in the Philippines is crucial, as it is meant to achieve
better mental health care and ensure the rights of people with mental health issues. DSWD
administers it. It combines strategies such as PGS pathways, DSWD Strategy Map 2028,
and Administrative Order No. One of the main tasks of the psychological support
management is provision of different services: housing access, counseling, therapy, and
skills training. These treatments are aimed at the recovery potential of the patients,
especially those dealing with emotions stemming from history, trauma, adversity or illness.
Fitting social workers and mental health professionals with enhanced psychosocial skills is
very important for successfully coping with emotional issues and promoting the well-being
of individuals and communities.

Social workers are the key party which is responsible for coping with mental health issues,
building children and families dynamics in our complicated society as well. They champion
for people and communities facing problems with mental health through counseling, case
management, and advocacy. They help an extensive range of mental health problems such
as depression, schizophrenia and substance addiction issues. They follow the
comprehensive approach, being aware that there is a connecting the mental health with
the social determinants. Social workers also help children in the development and family
stability by the accreditation of development centers and premarital counseling. This is
facilitated through their creation of safe and healthy environments, and also adoption of
empirically proven practices, which is the base for good results. Couples’ marriages can be
facilitated by these organizations as they are with skills to tackle the unforeseen exigencies
in marriage. Social workers are the embodiment of compassion, resilience, and social
justice. Their main goal is to promote the well-being of individuals and the whole
community thereby, making the society to thrive.

In addition, marriage is a complicated and fluid institution that entails thorough

deliberation on the roles, functions, and children rights’ regards. The process of pre-
marriage counseling allows couples to navigate through their values, beliefs, and
expectations, with the aim to keep communication open. Roles and responsibilities
change over time and couples have to renegotiate and redefine them according to their
own situations. Proper distribution of duties implies acquaintance with each other’s
strengths, weaknesses, and preferences which is beneficial and builds teamwork, as well.
The decision to have kids brings up wider issues including budget management, emotional
preparedness and parenting styles. Identifying and honoring the rights of every child is the
key. Pre-marriage counseling helps create better and more equipped relationships, by
giving attention to the core features such as good communication, flexibility, and respect,
which are essential for a long and healthy marriage life.
