written in the active voice. Write Active voice if it’s written in active voice form and
Not Active Voice if it’s not. (Copy and answer)

____________2. The delicious meal was enjoyed by everyone at the party.
____________3. The children splashed happily in the cool water of the sprinkler.

S V
Subject Verb
➢ Look for the “be + past participle” This is the most reliable clue. If you see a
form of the verb "be" (is, am, are, was, were, has been, have been) followed by
a past participle (verb ending in -ed or a unique form like written, broken)
“Was eaten” combines “was" (a form of "be") with “eaten” (the past participle of "eat")
➢ Another way to recognize passive voice sentences is that they may include a “by-
phrase” after the verb.
Activity 3: Identify if the sentence is Passive voice. For each sentence, write “PV” if it's
in the Passive voice and “NP” if it's Not Passive voice. (Copy and answer)
