I am Justin Tom, a dedicated and aspiring nursing student hailing
from the serene town of Pala in Kottayam, known for its breathtaking natural beauty. My academic journey has been characterized by a commitment to excellence, reflected in my achievements of scoring 72% in 10th grade in 2022 and 72.8% in 12th grade in 2024, specializing in biology science.
From a young age, I have been deeply inspired by the healthcare
profession, particularly nursing, due to my grandmother's battle with Asthma. Accompanying her on numerous hospital visits exposed me to the compassionate care provided by nurses, leaving a lasting impression on me. These experiences ignited a passion within me to pursue a career in nursing, with a strong desire to provide the same level of care and support to those in need. In response to the global Covid-19 pandemic, I took initiative and collaborated with friends to create an impactful informational campaign. Each team member contributed their skills, from conducting research to creating engaging content, and our regular virtual meetings ensured smooth coordination. Our collective efforts were successful in dispelling myths and fostering better community understanding of the virus, highlighting the importance of healthcare education in times of crisis.
My love for biology is not merely academic; it represents a deep-
seated fascination with the essence of life itself. This passion, coupled with my involvement in the Bharat Scouts and Guides, where I acquired basic first aid and CPR skills, has further fuel my ambition to pursue a career in nursing, where I can directly impact and improve lives. I am particularly drawn to the Adult Nursing BSc (Hons) programme at Plymouth University, UK, as it offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to provide exceptional care to adults. The program's emphasis on holistic care and diverse clinical experiences align perfectly with my goal of becoming a competent and compassionate adult nurse.
Plymouth University accolades further solidify my decision to
pursue my nursing education there. Plymouth has bagged fourth place in a new ranking of university in UK and Unifresher’s Ultimate Alternative University League Table 2023 puts University of Plymouth in pole position for southwest England,as the only university in the region to make the top ten. Moreover, the high level of students speaks volumes about the university's commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment. My search for the right nursing program led me to explore options in both India and the UK. While major Indian universities like All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Kerala University of Health Science offer prestigious programs, I found that they require students to qualify in numerous entrance exams and focus heavily on theoretical knowledge. Seeking a more practical and hands-on learning experience, I turned my attention to universities in the UK,including Bristol University, the University of South Wales, and Chester University. After careful consideration, I am confident that Plymouth University is the best choice for me, given its outstanding reputation, state-of-the-art facilities, and commitment to student satisfaction. The opportunities available at Plymouth University to put theoretical knowledge into practice through a wide range of clinical experiences will not only enhance my professional skills but also provide me with a solid foundation to excel in the field of nursing. In conclusion, the Adult Nursing BSc (Hons) programme at Plymouth University represents the ideal pathway for me to fulfil my aspirations of becoming a skilled and empathetic nurse. I am eager to contribute to the field of nursing and make a positive impact on the lives of others
