OBJECTIVES
Knowledge:
1. Identify common medical conditions and surgical procedures encountered in the medical and
surgical wards.
2. Understand the principles of medication administration and the importance of adherence to
medication schedules.
3. Recognize signs and symptoms of potential complications in medical and surgical patients.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of infection control practices to prevent the spread of nosocomial
infections.
5. Explain the importance of patient education in promoting health and preventing illness.

Skills:
1. Accurately assess the vital signs and general condition of medical and surgical patients.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in wound care and dressing changes for surgical patients.
3. Administer medications, including intravenous medications, accurately and safely.
4. Perform basic nursing procedures such as urinary catheterization and nasogastric tube insertion
correctly.
5. Utilize communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and the healthcare
team.

Attitude:
1. Approach patient care with compassion, empathy, and respect for the dignity and autonomy of
each patient.
2. Maintain a positive attitude and adaptability in challenging and changing clinical situations.
