PROCEDURE FOR TOOLBOX TALKS ON SITE

PURPOSE

This procedure serves to clearly outline the series of events and activities to be followed during
the execution of toolbox talks on all sites.

DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE

1.1 Topics of discussion during toolbox talks shall be pre-planned, documented and kept on
record at all company sites.
1.2 On a daily basis, the site Chief of works shall call for and moderate the toolbox
meeting for a minimum of 20 minutes per session.
1.3 Employee participation shall be encouraged and feedback must be sought from all
employees present during toolbox talks
1.4 After each session, minutes from the discussion shall be documented and kept on file and
attendance lists shall also be maintained.
1.5 The site Chief of works shall ensure that all anomalies raised during toolbox talks are
addressed and closed.
1.6 Attendance of toolbox talks shall be mandatory for all employees present on site and works
shall not commence without completion of toolbox talks.
1.7 Use open ended questions to promote involvement, positive responses to
questions and comments
1.8 Ensure to invite a client representative in at least two of the sessions.
