Load profile summary
(location of Test)
Main Switch Board 1
1. Introduction
2. Recorded Data
3. Results
Voltage
Current
Maximum Current
Maximum Red phase Current load ranges from 44 amps to 556 amps.
Maximum White phase Current load ranges from 37 amps to 513 amps.
Maximum Blue phase Current load ranges from 24 amps to 500 amps.
(Refer to Multigraphic Maximum current graphs)
A Customer must ensure that the current in each phase of a three
phase electrical installation does not deviate from the average of
the three phase currents
Active Power
The Active Power graph (Power: Triphasic) shows load change in the
supply. The load fluctuates between 5 kW and 258 kW during this
test. To help reading the recorded data we have also included the
three phase graphs in their individual days.
Power factor
The results show that power factor varied with the load from a low
point of 0.81 to a high of -0.94 during the testing period.
We have also included graphs showing each phase overlaid, this again
shows differences due to load allocation influence on phases. To
help reading the recorded data we have also included the three phase
graphs in their individual days.
(Refer to Power Factor III graph).
VOLTAGE HARMONIC
When you examine the voltage THD graph you will notice that the
harmonic levels during this test are within the allowed level of 5%.
During this test the THDV varies from 0.807% to 2.573%
The bar charts show that the harmonics are created across the whole
spectrum but stay below 1%, with the exception of the 5th harmonic,
which is around 2%.
4.4.1 This states that: A distributor must ensure that the harmonic levels in the voltage at point of
common coupling nearest to a customer’s point of supply comply with the following limits:
<1kV 5% 4% 2%
>1kV and ≤ 66kV 3% 2% 1%
CURRENT HARMONIC
When you examine the current THDI graph, you will notice that the
harmonic levels during the test vary with the load.
The harmonic levels recorded vary between the phases due to the
varying loads.
The bar charts show that the harmonics are created across the whole
spectrum but are mainly on 3rd, 5th, 7th, 11th, 13th, 17th, 19th, 23rd
25th,26th, 27th and 29th harmonic.
The harmonic levels should be within the limits as defined in IEC Standard 61000-3-7 (Formally
Australian Standard AS2289/1998)
Voltage 5% and Current between 5% and 20% depending on the ISC/IL
In addition, compliance to the IEEE Standard 519-1992 'Recommended Practices and Requirements
for Harmonic Control in Electrical Power Systems' has been a requirement of the Electricity
Distribution Code in Victoria since 1999.
4.4.3 A customer must keep harmonic currents below the limit as detailed in table 4 below:
RECOMENDATIONS
HARMONICS
The current harmonics recorded within this supply are within the
limits set down in the distribution code (5% for 2500A supply), or
if load recorded is maximum demand, only needs to be 12%. Whilst the
equipment connected to this supply is energised the harmonics are
below the allowed 12% limit.
Yours faithfully,
Rohan McKinnon
