Beginners woodwork - Mondays 10am to 1pm – 8 weeks
The course is designed for learners with little or no woodworking experience. The course covers working with hand tools to make the common wood joints that form the basis of most items. Once you've mastered measuring, marking, sawing and chiseling your learning is centred on small projects - a shelf and a box. Fusion Fitness – Mondays 8pm to 9pm – 8 weeks This course is for you if you're looking for a pick-me-up during the day or would like to combine some basic Pilates and ballet techniques with lyrical movement in order to maintain or improve your level of fitness. Previous experience is not essential. Through Pilates matwork exercises and basic ballet technique, you will discover how to strengthen your core muscles and improve balance, posture, alignment and flexibility. Life drawing short course – Saturdays 10am to 4pm – 2 weeks This course is for adults at all levels, from complete beginners to those with experience who wish to learn about working from a life model. Through both short and long poses, you will discover how to interpret the figure onto paper using basic techniques of measuring, proportion and composition. You'll also be creating effects with mark-making in pencil, charcoal, pen and ink and other appropriate mediums. You can learn how to express yourself freely with gestural drawing techniques. There will be opportunities to reference established artists throughout. Make your own domestic-ware – Fridays 10am to 1pm - 10 weeks Adults from beginners to experienced who wish to develop their pottery skills in a well-equipped pottery studio. If you're interested in handmade domestic-ware or seeking an introduction to making your own pottery, this course will teach you how to create a selection of items including suitable types of tableware, drinking vessels and other items. Sew and make - Wednesdays 6.30pm to 9pm – 10 weeks Both beginners and sewers that are more experienced will learn and benefit from this course. The course is flexible in the items it produces, allowing all skill levels and interests to learn and achieve. Learn how to copy a favourite garment or remodel, bring your own alterations or repairs or a commercial pattern or sewing project. Beginners will be taught how to use a sewing machine and all will be advised on the suitability of their projects. Acoustic guitar: an introduction – Mondays 6pm to 7.30pm – 8 weeks This course is for learners with no previous experience playing the guitar. You do not need to read music.
