1. Preparing the equipment
The equipment is capable of making and playing back recordings only when it is switched on, and it is
properly set and connected.

Identify the units, supplementary parts and cables in the package. There is no preference in the order
of connecting (microphones, telephone lines, start push-buttons, matching devices, Ethernet cable) or
switching on the equipment, however it is recommended that the equipment be switched off when
assembling.

Make sure to read the Technical Description of the equipment carefully.

1.1. Connecting

Connect the appropriate signal sources to the Inputs or to the TEL. lines inputs.
The COM1 port can be used for:
Receiving the serial tarification information (optional);
Change or upload the internal firmware;

The COM2 port is to be used excessively for modem connection.

The Alarm socket is for connecting a local (external) alarm system.

The following can be connected to the Ethernet socket:
The supplied link type UTP cable (blue cap, recommended for the DSRSetIP application);
standard 10Base-T type cable (for a remote client or server connection).

For making a recording it might be necessary to also connect a push-button, or a matching adapter,
D/A Converter in case of digital telephone equipment.
The connecting point of the power supply is a 4-pole socket called Power on the back panel. The DC
adapter in the package needs to be connected to this.

Place the equipment on its final installation area.

3
1.2. Switching on

The SoliDBank-600 desktop equipment has a Power button on its back panel and the recorder can
be switched on with that. The given DC adapter provides power supply where the nominal voltage
value is 24 V.

A switched-on equipment can be in the following operating conditions:

ready condition - the data storage unit is properly formatted and is not erroneous;
init_error condition - the data storage unit is not formatted or erroneous;
install condition - the equipment is being installed.

Under regular circumstances the alarm signal is off, the LED signal of the authorized channels and the
PWR LED are active (green).

All red LEDs are lit in the front panel in case the storage unit is not formatted or erroneous. At that
time further use of the equipment is not recommended. With the DSRDirectTech / DSRWebInstall
application the storage unit can be formatted again if use cannot be terminated.

1.3. Settings

The SoliDBank-600 type equipments and its services can easily be set to the prevailing user
demands and environments. The following steps are recommended:
Matching to the LAN/WAN environment;
Technical settings;
Developing the „user environment”.
To carry out the first step the DSRSetIP application, Windows workstation (or notebook) and an
appropriate network connection are necessary (in cases the UTP-link cable provides a less
complicated solution). The LAN/WAN connections of the recorder are configured, which must be
considered when installing the other applications – DSRDirectTech, DSREasyReplay, SLD-3000
system software.

The connection and the setting of the required inputs take place in the second step – in compliance
with the given lines, signal sources, matching adapters and fixing method. For this the
DSRDirectTech / DSRWebTech application, a Windows workstation (or notebook) and a network
connection are necessary. An overall control is recommended, the target points are the internal clock,
the inputs, the recordings and the access codes.

The third step includes the installation of the user applications and the test run – with relevance to the
system softwares, or external systems (PABX, CTI).

2. Indicators

2.1. LED display units

On the front panel of the 8-channel equipment there are 20 LEDs of which 2x8 are numbered, the rest
are titled.

The lighting of the 1..8 LEDs beside the ACTIVE title mean that the 1..8 channels are configured and
authorized. If a channel is stopped, the LED belonging to it goes out and it is lit again when the
channel is authorized.

When all the 8 LEDs are blinking simultaneously, the equipment is being installed.

The 1..8 LEDs beside the REC title show the condition of the installed and authorized channels. If a
green LED belonging to a channel does not show during operation, the red LED will not show either. A
continuously lit red led means that a recording is made on the given channel. A blinking red LED
indicates an error occurring on the given channel.

It might happen that not all the green ACTIVE LEDs show but all red REC LEDs are lit continuously.
This means that the system detected an error that completely blocks the recording process. An
erroneous internal storage unit or an administrational error that cannot be corrected by the internal
program might cause this.

On the front panel there are two further yellow LEDs, called HDD1 and HDD2. These indicate the
activity of the internal storage units (similarly to a PC).

The PWR green LED shows the presence of the power supply voltage.

The ALM red LED is lit when the system is in an alarm condition. The exact alarm reason can be
detected with the help of the special client application.

2.2. Alarm signals

The ALM LED is lit until an alarm event prevails, independently from its type or number. The most
frequently occurring events are listed below, for a more detailed description read the “User Manual”
document of the DSRDirectTech application.

5
The channel-alarm is active especially when the given input setting is phone, but no line DC voltage
is perceptible on the 3..4 contact of the RJ-11 (Tel. lines). No recordings are made! The input
connection must be checked.

HDD1-alarm occurs when the internal storage unit is not formatted or erroneous. If there is an existing
set of recordings that should not be lost, then definitely contact the service team of the producer. In
case of a built-in mirror storage (from another storage unit) the recordings can be retrieved, new
recordings can be made.

HDD2-alarm occurs when:

The mirror storage setting is authorized but no other storing tool is built in;
The mirror storage is not formatted or erroneous.
For the reliable operation of the recorder it is recommended that you contact the service unit of the
producer.

The fullness-alarm is active when monitoring the current fullness is authorized and reaches the set
threshold. The making of the recordings is not stopped and the operation of the equipment is
undisturbed. However, it might be predicted tat the recording is overwritten.

The so-called install-alarm occurs during formatting the storage unit. It automatically ceases with the
end of the installation.

The so-called set_need-alarm is similar to the channel alarm. The newly installed recorder does not
make recordings, it is inevitable to set each inputs separately.

6
3. Access codes

The recorder stores three codes – the so-called login code (user code), the service code (supervisor
code) and the brand code (factory code). These control the access to the information therefore at least
one of them is necessary for a remote TCP/IP connection.
The factory code allows for the deletion of the storage unit (installation), thus it also allows for the
setting of the “initial” value of the two other codes.
The login code does not allow for the modification of the service code and the access to the technical
settings and information. The SoliDBank-600 equipment can only be integrated into a large system
(SolidSYS-3000) if the service code is known.

The codes may be modified:

By the user with the help of the required authority and application;
During the carried out installation process.
For further details please consult the documentation of the applications.

7
4. Basic functions

We only discuss basic functions in this document. The descriptions of other functions related to
separate applications are included in the software user manuals.

4.1. Recording

Recording is only possible when the equipment is in ready condition.

The process is automatic and cannot be influenced except when the equipment is started with an
external push-button (contact setting)1. Recording is started on realization of the set starting
conditions on the set input and the red LED display unit belonging to the channel is lit. Recordings are
accessible in progress, they can be replayed.
The recording is closed when the following events occur:
The starting condition ceases in case it did not return during shut-down time when starting at a
certain voice level;
The length of the recording is over 10 minutes;
The channel setting is modified;
The optional tarification information (PABX) arrived during call-transfer;
The equipment is switched off.

After closing the 10-minute recording a new recording is automatically started.

During recording:
The so-called tarification information (RS232, PABX) can be received and interpreted;
The so-called supplementary call information (TCP/IP, DSRSureClient) can be received and
interpreted;
TCP/IP connection can be built, maintained and terminated without disruption of the current
recording process;
Recordings can be retrieved and played back from the equipment without the disruption of the
current recording process;
Even though not recommended, setting the inputs is possible with the danger of disrupting the
current recording when validating the modifications, after which the recording process will be
continued in 2s the most.

4.2. Data storing, fullness, data access, monitoring

The recordings and the supplementary information are stored in a digital format. A separate entry can
be found of each recording in an administrational chart through which these are easily accessible.

1
The starting is user-controlled, the push-button (pedal) must be pushed.
8
Writing the internal storage unit is circulatory. The equipment supports the mirrored storage method,
thus satisfies the highest data security demands.
Technical settings and parameters are also saved on the storage unit. They are read at each switch-
on.

Accessing the information is only possible with a separate application, with an appropriate TCP/IP
connection and access code.

Monitoring is only possible when it is authorized by the remote application and no other monitoring is
in progress.

4.3.Receiving tarification information from PABX

With the help of the optional serial interface, the recording is able to receive (COM1), interpret and
store with the recording the identifying information of the given call – caller/called phone number, client
code, extension number, call direction, etc. The information is sent by the branch exchange, and
relevant data are attached to it when closing the recording. The duration of waiting for the call-relevant
tarification information can be configured.

4.4. Receiving supplementary call information

With the help of an optional software (e.g. DSRSureClient) the recorder is able to receive and store
the supplementary call information to the recording – remark, identity, client code, etc. Information can
be sent or attached to the recording in progress or within a certain time period after its closing (the
time can be set to a maximum of 30 minutes).
In case of SolidSYS-3000 and CTI integrating, the call information is sent by the so-called controlling
software module and the relevant call identifying data are attached to that until the closing of the
recording.

4.5. Monitor information, logging

Eventlog is continuously made of changes in condition, perceived events, starting and closing of the
recordings in the switched-on equipment – all stored in a separate space on the internal storage unit.
However, for viewing log file a TCP/IP connection and a separate application are needed, which help
in downloading the monitor information.

4.6. TCP/IP connections

The recorder is accessible through its built-in Ethernet adapter via LAN/WAN network, but only under
certain conditions. The appropriate application (and code!) creates a user interface for all stored
information. Furthermore, the equipment can be integrated into the SolidSYS-3000 system as well.

9
Thus, with one IP address and four pre-set TCP ports the equipment is capable of the following
connections:
Data enquiry (two separate, concurring connections);
Receiving IP-based supplementary call information;
IP-based time synchronization.

4.7. Modem connection

The recorder is accessible through a modem as well (COM2, PPP) depending on the version of the
internal firmware and remote client application.

4.8. Firmware change

Changing of programs running the equipment is provided for clients with software upgrading option.
This option and a special application allow for further extension of services, satisfying unique user
demands without disassembling the equipment!

The TCP/IP configuration (not detailed here), reinstallation, technical settings and access to the
recordings are carried out only with the appropriate application(s) and a TCP/IP connection. For
detailed description please consult the user documentation of the applications.
