True to its meaning, Mathematics indeed is deeper than an ocean beholding many hidden
treasures. To find the hidden treasures and to encourage students to learn the subject
joyfully, Gulf Indian High School is celebrating GANIT WEEK (Growing Aptitude in
Numerical Innovations & Training) from May 6 to 9. The main goal of mathematics
education in schools is to develop inner resources and logical thinking. This can be
achieved if the learners are exposed to different situations in mathematics in which they
could get an opportunity to explore and analyze mathematical skills. In such events the
learners get an opportunity to express their ideas before others fearlessly.

By organizing various activities during GANIT WEEK, the students will be able to

Discover the enjoyment in learning mathematics.

Create interest in learning mathematics.
Connect mathematical concepts with real life situations.
Involve intrinsically in all mathematical activities.
Appreciate the importance of learning mathematics for learning other subjects.
Popularize mathematics among learners and society.
Improve mathematical skills.

Inter Class Competitions

Be a part of GANIT WEEK by participating in various competitions.

❖ Math clock (working model) - Create a mathematical clock using math questions
associated with each number.
❖ Math Newsletters/Magazine – Design a Mathematical Newsletter which contains
articles, puzzles, poems, pictures etc.
❖ Math Couture - Math Fashion Design Competition - Exhibit the beauty of
mathematical concepts through fashion design. From geometric patterns to Fibonacci
sequences, let your imagination soar as you infuse mathematical principles into your
creations.
❖ Math Game/Comic Strip/Story-Create a math Game/Comic Strip/Story.
❖ Math Eye is a photo competition. Find math from our surroundings, be creative
and make mathematical connections!
❖ Math Dictionary- Create a handy Math Dictionary that assists you in reminding you
of many common words and phrases used in math.

Be a part of Mathematics Exhibition by participating in various competitions (Your Exhibits
must have a name and a brief explanation of its importance and usage)

➢ Math Models - Participants must prepare an innovative math model on any topic.
➢ Math Brochure- Design creative and informative math brochure that will
effectively communicate complex math concepts in a visually appealing way.
➢ Math Origami- Participants must prepare innovative math models/shapes using
color papers.
➢ Math 3D Art - Participants must prepare innovative artwork /drawing.

It is expected that such endeavors will reduce the fear of Mathematics and make its
study more interesting amongst students.
