Support Programs for MSMEs by GoSL

The following initiatives are implemented by government of Sri Lanka to support the
MSMEs (SMEs Support Programmes in Sri Lanka, 2023):
1. Financial Assistance – provide loans, grants and subsidies to help MSMEs to
overcome the financial issues and expand the operations.
2. Training & Development Programs – to improve the business skills and
knowledge to enhance the competitiveness and growth of MSMEs
3. Business incubators -provides guidance, mentoring, networking and funding to
support to start-ups and MSMEs
4. Streamlined regulations- simplified procedures and regulations for an easy start
and operation of MSMEs
5. Facilitating exports – provides support (financial, market access, promotional
activities for export) and incentives to encourage the export of products

The following programs are conducted by government of Sri Lanka and other
organizations to support the MSMEs:
1. Enterprise Sri Lanka – provides financial assistance
2. Small Enterprise Development Programme – provides business development
services
3. Export Development Programme – encourages export of products
4. Industrial Development Board – provides technical and financial assistance for
MSMEs in the industrial sector
5. Women's Entrepreneurship Development Programme – encourages women-
owned MSMEs
6. National Enterprise Development Authority – provides support in many sectors
7. Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme – promotes young
entrepreneurship
