4A’s Lesson Plan Format

Mathematics
March 2024

Content Standard: The learners should have knowledge and understanding of theoretical
probability.
Performance Standard: The learners are able to calculate theoretical probability.
Learning Competency: The learners calculate the theoretical probability of a simple events by
listing all possible outcomes. DP5 - III8

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of 30 minutes, Grade 5 – Lily will be able to:
a. define the concept theoretical probability of a simple events;
b. recognize the importance the sample space by listing all possible outcomes; and
c. solve problems involving probabilities of a simple events by listing of possible
outcomes.
II. Subject Matter (Grade 5)
Topic: Theoretical Probability

III. Procedures
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Arranging of chairs
4. Checking of attendance

B. Developmental Activities(2mins)
 Review the last lesson that was discussed in the previous
meeting.
C. Motivation (2mins)
“Rock-Paper-Scissors”
Direction: You have three rounds to play and record your result on
the paper. Write W if you win and L if you lose.
Tell the pupils to look at the sky.
Ask:
What is the probability that it will
rain today?
Why did you say so
D. Activity (3mins)
“Count-me-In”

E. Analysis (3mins)
The teacher will ask these following questions based on the activity
given:
 What is the probability of drawing a yellow marble?
 How many purple marble inside a jar?
 How many total marbles in a jar?
F. Abstraction (12mins)
“Theoretical Probability”
 What is Theoretical Probability?
 What is the formula of theoretical Probability?
 What are the steps for the formula of probability?
G. Application(5mins)
“Think – Share”
Instruction: Read the following statements and solve the situational
problem. Write your answers in 1/2 sheet of paper.
1. Lettered cards spell out the word “Mathematics”. What is the
probability that the card selected is a vowel
2. In a bag, there are 5 red balls, 3 blue balls, and 2 green balls. If a ball
is randomly selected from the bag, what is the probability that it is
not blue?
3. At a picnic, there's a bowl of fruit with 10 pieces: 4 apples, 3
oranges, and 3 bananas. If someone randomly grabs a piece of fruit,
what's the chance it's an apple?
H. Generalization(2mins)
The teacher will guide the pupils in generalizing the lesson by asking
these guide questions:
 What is a theoretical probability?
 What is the formula of solving theoretical probability?
I. Evaluation
“Worksheet Completion”
The teacher will ask the students to get a one whole sheet of paper and
answer the following activity silently.
Find the probability of the following:
1. Martin flips a coin. What is the probability that the coin will land
on tails?
2. A spinner is divided into five equal sections labeled 1 to 5. What is
the probability that the spinner will land on 3?
3. Harriet rolls a number cube what is the probability that the cube
will land on a number divisible by 4?
4. A bag contains 6 red and 10 black marbles. If you randomly pick a
marble from the bag, what is the probability that the marble will be
black?
IV. Assignment
Answer activity 5 in your mathematics book on page 109.
