1. What is your understanding of ethics, and why is it important in the workplace?


Workplace ethics refers to the moral principles and values that guide the
behavior and actions of employees in the workplace.

Workplace ethics is essential for several reasons. Firstly, it promotes a culture of


honesty, integrity, and trust in the workplace. Employees who act ethically
demonstrate a commitment to doing the right thing, which fosters mutual respect
and trust among colleagues, promoting a healthy and productive work
environment. Workplace ethics guarantees fair treatment of employees and
ensures that they are treated equitably.

2. Can you discuss the importance of seeking input from colleagues, mentors, or
ethical committees when faced with complex ethical issues?
Colleagues, mentors and ethical committees are the key for complex ethical
issues for some reasons:
- Firstly, they are willing to listen to your problem. They are not affected by
any factors and have a sharp eye to investigate the situation, thus provide you
the most statisfying solution.
- Secondly, the exprerience and network are two vital features of the seniors.
They know the best-of-both-world answer or they know the most approriate
person to seek advice for your specific issue.
- Thirdly, they play as a pillar of support for you on the way to figure out the
answer for that complex ethical issue.

3. Imagine you witness a coworker engaging in unethical behavior. What are your
options for responding to the situation?
- Report to his direct supervisor or the ethical committee.
- Be a witness when his fault evalutation meeting occur.
- Mind my own business and do not put my nose on his work.

Chapter 16:
1. Can someone be a good leader without strong management skills? Can someone
be a good manager without strong leadership skills? Why or why not?
The answer to both questions is No. Because either management skill and
leadership skill are optional for a personel in leader or manager position. They
are embedded and in no matter be deleted from the skills table for a good
manager and leader. A worker is assigned as leader or manager because of their
performance with the role of a leader or manager-to-be.

2. Can a good leader switch between different leadership styles depending on the
situation? Why or why not?
They can switch style depending on the situation. Because each type of
subordinates demands different leadership style. For example, a rigorous project
for the freshmans of the company requests the leader to lead strictly and
carefully. On the other hand, during the apprenticeship term, a good manager
can switch to a less demanding leadership style, providing more room for the
employees to thrive and perform.
3. How do effective leaders inspire trust, motivate others, and foster a positive
work environment?
One of the simplest and most impactful ways to create a positive work
environment is to recognize and appreciate your team for their contributions,
achievements, and efforts. Recognition and appreciation can boost the morale,
motivation, and loyalty of your team members, and make them feel valued and
respected. Another key way to create a positive work environment is to
communicate clearly and openly with your team. Communication is essential for
building trust, understanding, and alignment among your team members, and for
avoiding misunderstandings, confusion, and conflicts

4. Think about a leader you admire. What specific actions or qualities do they
demonstrate?
1. Proactivity: Empowering Action and Driving Results. It involves anticipating
challenges, seizing opportunities, and inspiring others to take action.
Proactive leaders lead by example, encouraging their teams to be proactive,
solution-oriented, and accountable.

2. The Power of Positivity: Inspiring Growth and Collaboration. Positive


leaders encourage open communication, celebrate achievements, and provide
constructive feedback. Positivity can uplift and empower our teams, fostering
a sense of belonging, engagement, and enthusiasm.

3. Embracing a Growth Mindset: Cultivating Continuous Improvement.


Growth-minded leaders encourage their teams to embrace challenges, view
setbacks as opportunities for learning, and constantly seek new knowledge
and experiences.

5. What can you do to build your confidence and self-belief as a leader?

1. Focus on your strengths: Instead of dwelling on your weaknesses, focus on your


strengths and what you can do well. Identify your unique talents and skills and
use them to your advantage.
2. Set achievable goals: Set realistic goals for yourself and your team members.
Accomplishing these goals can boost your confidence and motivate you to
tackle bigger challenges.
3. Embrace failure: Instead of being afraid of failure, embrace it as an opportunity
to learn and grow. Analyze what went wrong, and use this knowledge to
improve your skills and decision-making abilities.
