VI. PROJECT RATIONALE:
The fulfillment of fatherly obligations and responsibilities gives families direction
and promotes stability. To foster a loving atmosphere for all family members, these duties
should go beyond being only a provider and include collaborative parenting. However,
because of how families are set up and how parenting is done, women are typically in
charge of the majority of early caregiving tasks.
Fathers are merely a shadow figure in the home, difficult to comprehend and unable
to provide the children with love and tender care. This is true since men are rarely
provided with basic information and never received training on household duties, making it
impossible for them to fill a nurturing role in the family. Fathers now have a more
significant role in the family than ever before.
The importance of the father's role in the family has come to light as a critical issue
that must be addressed in the pursuit of shared parenting tasks and the fulfillment of
familial obligations. To fully address the familial problems and issues of today's Filipino
fathers, the Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities (ERPAT) program was
created by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The parental
tasks, obligations, and skills of the father are valued and emphasized by ERPAT. It
recognizes their important duties in all facets of child raising and development, including
the supervision and control of adolescent children's behavior.
The Local Government recognizes the paramount importance of achieving children's
rights and has pledged to provide parents and legal guardians with the necessary help as
they carry out their parental and guardian duties. Additionally, the local government
supports marital

harmony, family values, and involvement, participation, and leadership for increased
community and individual empowerment.

VII. OBEJCTIVES:

In general, this activity aims to strengthen and reinforce the parenting skills of the
fathers in this municipality in carrying out their familial obligations and responsibilities,
enable them attain an active and equal role with their spouses/partners in fostering the
optimal development of their children and other family members, and assume active

leadership in the community in promoting happy family life. It specifically aims to achieve
the following:

Module 1

1) The participants will attain awareness and discover oneself as a person; and
2) Find meaning of one’s existence in relation to his environment.

Module 2

1) The participants should be able to demonstrate a build-up of positive self-

esteem, as a pre-requisite to effective fathering.

VIII. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

There are nine (9) modules in the Empowerment and Reaffirmation of

Paternal Abilities (ERPAT) program. In order to avoid forcing father participants to devote
their entire time to attending the seminar workshop because they are believed to be too
busy attending their works, Module 1 and Module 2 will be discussed and conducted this
year while the remaining Modules will be covered and conducted next year.

With intervals in between, the first part of the program will be completed in two
days. On November 23, 2022 , from 8 A.M to 12 P.M. Module 1 will be discussed on the first
day. The venue of the activity will be at the municipality’s covered court. The second
component of the activity (module 2), will take place on December 02, 202, at the same
time and location as previously specified.

The activity will be attended by fathers from this municipality's fourteen (14) barangays. To
discuss the two modules, one Resource Speaker will be invited. The activity will be facilitated by
MSWDO staff. Following the presentation of all topics, an open forum will be held to ensure that all
issues and concerns are addressed.
