CONCEPT NOTES

Unifying Themes in the Study of Life connects many things in the exploration of
life. It is a basic ideas that applies to all organisms. This includes Biological
Systems (ex. Your body, ecosystem), The Cellular Basis of Life (all organisms
are made up of cell), Form and Function (ex. wings is for flying), Reproduction
and Inheritance (organisms produce their own kind), Interaction with the
Environment (ex. plants obtain water and nutrient form soil), Energy and Life
(ex. organism takes up food to live and survive), Regulation (ex. sweating to help
cool the body), Adaptation (an inherited trait that helps an organism’s ability to
survive and reproduce)
Evolution (generation-to-generation change in the proportion of different
inherited genes in a population), and Biology and Society (ex. Stem cell research,
animal cloning, Environmental issues, GMO).

EXERCISE
