Safety Information

occur during installation, operation and maintenance of the products. The operator is responsible for
observing the location-specific safety regulations, also with reference to the personnel.

To avoid injury and product damage, take care the following:


 Install the product according to the regulations applicable in the respective country.
 Make sure only trained and skilled technicians can carry out installation and maintenance work.
 Secure the product or system to prevent unintentional activation.
 Do not subject the product to mechanical stress.
 Do not cut, damage or change the cord. Make sure there are no heavy objects on the cable and
that the cable is not folded. Make sure that the cable is not anywhere near hot surfaces.
 Do not touch any of the live electrical components.
 Operate the products in a secured working environment.
 If the sensor cable is damaged, please contact AQUAS Customer Service.
 Never try to disassemble or modify the product or a part of the product if such a procedure is not
explicitly described in this manual.
 Products from AQUAS meet the highest safety standards. Inspections, modifications and repairs to
the product, including the replacement of the connecting cable, must be carried out by AQUAS, or
by a workshop /qualified experts authorized by AQUAS. Defective, improper repairs can lead to
accidents and injuries.

1. Overview
The Radar Level Meter is connected directly via RS485 communication interface, providing simple,
reliable, cost-saving process data with remote monitoring, calibration, configuration and diagnostic
capabilities. Housing in a robust IP68 proof enclosure, 1500 N tensile strength Kevlar reinforced cable,
up to 1.2 km digital data transmission, the transmitter is ideally used in water/wastewater industry.

2. Installation

2-1. Requirement of Installation


The following rules must always be considered prior to installation:

 The mounting distance to the side wall should be greater than 0.1 meter.
 The probe should be mounted vertically to the surface of level measurement.
 The mounting distance should be higher than blind zone.

3. Sensor Connection, Configuration, and Calibration

3-1. Download AQCFG Software


A. Insert CD or click the link sent by the manufacturer to download AQCFG software.
B. Select “Setup” and follow the instruction to finish software installation. After the download
process is completed, pleas create a shortcut to open AQCFG on desktop.

<Step 1>
Place the Installation Disc into CD-ROM  Click the file and select the Setup icon to start downloading
AQCFG software. Or, please click the link sent by the manufacturer to start AQCFG installation.

3-2. Connection Settings

A. Use CAB06 USB-485 cable to connect SMR61 analyzer with PC.

B. Open AQCFG Software

C. Set up Connect COM Port

Click “Setup” on Device Search main menu to configurate COM Port, Modbus ID, Baud rate, Parity (SMR
factory default settings: Modbus ID = 1, Baud rate = 19200, None Parity, 8 Data bits, 1 Stop bit).
After the setting is well done, close COM Port Setup window.

D. Click “Scan” on Device search main menu. All the connected analyzers (devices) will be
shown on the list. Double-click SMR61 to go to the Basic Setting screen.

E. AQCFG Function list

Note: The default Modbus ID is 1. It is necessary to change the ID to avoid conflict number
if connect multiple SMR transmitters

V. COM Port: Set up COM Port, Modbus ID, Baud rate, Parity

F. Sensor Basic Configuration

(1) Basic settings


I. Sensor: Show type of analyzer.
II. Alias: setting the alias
III. Model: Show model no.
IV. Serial Number: Show product’s factory serial number.
V. Location/Region/Zone:
For logger/controller, user can set up by their own preference.
If the user purchases AQWEB, please make sure to set up location, region, and zone to better
manage and find correct devices on AQWEB.
VI. Longitude/Latitude/Altitude:
Show GPS location if the user purchases GPS function for logger/controller.
VII. Range: Show measurement range.
VIII. Velocity: showing the real-time value and select the unit
IX. Value: showing the real-time value of Radar level meter and select the unit
X. Install Elevation: Radar level meter installation height setting

(2) Communication settings


I. Baud rate: Set up Baud rate. (9600 and 19200)
II. Format: Set up communication format (Options: N81, O81, E81)
※ COM Port Alternation: User should re-connect the system before starting the
measurement or continuing doing other settings after alternate COM Port.
III. ID: Set up ID number for device.
[IMPORTANT]
When connecting more than one analyzer to a logger/controller, please ensure to set up
different ID for each analyzer. The ID should be within the search range of the connected
logger/controller. If connecting to ECO logger, please set up ID between (1~4). If connecting
to FLO flow logger or HMI controller, please set up ID between (1~8).

5. Advanced Setup:
Click “Advanced” to call out the Firmware Update functions.

4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

4-1. Maintenance:
A. When conducting transmitter maintenance, please check whether the transmitter is clean
or not and make sure the cable is not damaged.

4-2. Trouble shooting:


A. Please follow the following steps to determine whether or not your device is malfunctioning
(a) First, check if the power supply of the instrument is normal.
(b) Second, check if the instrument itself is functioning. Hold the sensor parallel to the ground against
the wall, and observe whether or not it is producing normal measurement values.
(c) Check instrument installation according to installation requirements.
(d) Observe the surrounding environment to see if there may be possible interferences that might
have caused the instrument to be inoperable.
(e) Check if there is water in the device that may have caused damage to the inner works of the
instrument.
(f) Please resolve the problem(s) accordingly or consult the manufacturer.
