Malin Kundang

Once upon a time there lived a mother who worked as a fisherman. He is a single parent who
lives with his only son, Malin Kundang. Mother’s obligations are not enough to meet their
needs.
Several years later, Malin’s wish came true. He became a successful person and became a
wealthy merchant. He got married to the daughter of aristocrats. Unfortunately, he lied about
his background to his wife’s family.
Once upon a time, Malin was homesick. He returned to the village with his wife. He also
distributes money to the village community. Malin’s arrival reached the ears of the mother.
Impatient, mother immediately rushed to meet Malin. However, what he expected did not
match reality. Malin knew it was his mother, but he didn’t want to admit it in front of his wife
because he was embarrassed that his mother was wearing shabby clothes. His wife was
confused because Malin admitted to her that his mother was gone.
Feeling hurt, Malin’s mother cursed him. Not long after the heavy rain, Malin’s request for
forgiveness was no longer heard. He also turned into stone. The moral message is to love the
mother because her struggle to give birth, care for and educate is incomparable to anything that
children do.
