INTRODUCTION

A Community needs assessment is a vital tool in effective development planning, offering a

comprehensive roadmap for addressing critical issues in a certain community. Through active
engagement with community members, planners ensure that the identified needs genuinely
reflect local priorities, fostering collaboration and action. Furthermore, the assessment provides
valuable insights guiding the strategic allocation of resources, ensuring that limited funds are
directed toward addressing the most urgent community needs.

And so, the NSTP students of Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS) choose to
conduct the assessment in Barangay Pawing, Palo, Leyte. This Barangay constitutes 5.69% of
the total population of the Municipality of Palo. Known for its thriving commercial sector,
Pawing's economic growth has attracted potential investors, leading to a rising population.
However, this growth has also brought about consequences for the environment, health, social
dynamics, and education within the community. Overcrowding and poor sanitary facilities that
worsen health problems, are just some of the notable issues that we initially evaluated, but we
know that there still more to hear from the people of the said locality.

We are committed to identify new or existing challenges and propose viable solutions. Our
approach emphasizes collaboration with the community to ensure a clear and actionable
outcome. By actively engaging with residents, we aim to bridge the gap between Barangay
Pawing and more developed communities, fostering shared responsibility and cooperation. The
recommended solutions will prioritize empowerment, addressing the fundamental causes of
residents' difficulties and paving the way for long-term success and prosperity. Through
sustainable and community-driven activities, we seek to make lasting changes that resonate with
community members and benefit future generations.
