Overview
The BCM (Body Control Module) is a unit which integrates several systems of the vehicle to control them. It uses P-CAN and B-
CAN communications to improve reliability of data transfer, and it use wireless communication with TPMS module and uses LIN
communication for the data which is not sensitive to transfer speed.
It also detects signals from various switches and sensors and controls different relays and lamps through hard wires.

IMMOBILIZER UNIT
The immobilizer unit prevents the vehicle theft by allowing only the authorized ignition key to start the engine. The transponder
in the ignition key communicates with the immobilizer unit and EMS (ECU) fitted in the key box through wireless
communication and P-CAN communication, and the system permits the engine to start after confirming the encrypted coding.
Immobilizer lamp comes on : it was fault between immobilizer and EMS(ECU)
Immobilizer lamp blinks : it was coding error of immobilizer(1 sec & I time)

SKM(Smart Key Module) SMART KEY FEATURES BASED ON MODEL
Overview
The SKM (Smart Key Module) system improves the driver's experience and only applies to the vehicles equipped with smart key. This
SKM unit communicates with various units through CAN communication and hardwire communication to control the vehicle.
Components
■ SKM
CAN communication
■ SKM
The smart door AUTO LOCK function is not activated in the following situation:
- A valid smart key is detected inside vehicle.
- An impact signal is received from the air bag module.
- Smart key battery voltage low warning.
■ SKM
SKM IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM
The immobilizer system prevents the vehicle theft by allowing only the authorized key to start the engine. The transponder inside the key
communicates with the SKM and EMS (ECU) through P-CAN communication, and the system permits the engine to start after confirming
the encrypted coding.
When the START/STOP switch is pressed with the smart key put to the front of emergency antenna e.g. because of the smart key battery
discharge, the SKM communicates with the EMS (ECU) through P-CAN, and the EMS (ECU) starts to control the engine only when the
signal is valid.
A valid key verification time is provided for 10 seconds and the engine can be started during this time. If pressing the START/STOP switch
again after this 10 seconds, the smart key authentication process should be performed again.

IN-CAR SENSOR
The in-car sensor is a negative temperature
coefficient (NTC) thermistor, and mounted to
rear of the center lower fascia. It detects the air
temperature drawn through the indoor

MODE ACTUATOR
The mode actuator is mounted on the left side
of the heater and evaporator module. It
changes the direction of the air flow generated
from the blower motor before the air flows into
the cabin. It switches between the 5 different
air distribution modes (vent, bi-level, foot,
defrost, and foot/defrost according to the
control command from the heater and A/C
control assembly or driver's intention.

It is mounted to the inlet of the evaporator core
and supplies the appropriate quantity of
refrigerant to the evaporator.

actuator is fitted on the opposite position, that
is, right-hand side of the heater and evaporator.
It changes the motor position according to the
control command from the heater and A/C
control assembly to adjust the outlet air
temperature.
Intake ACTUATOR
The intake actuator is mounted to the right-hand
of the blower assembly and changes the air
source selection mode according to the control
command from the heater and A/C control
assembly.(흡입구의 내/외기 모드제어)
EAT(INTAKE)/(EVAPORATOR
AIR TEMPERATURE) SENSOR
The intake sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor, and
mounted to the side of the evaporator core in the heater and evaporator assembly.
This is used to detect the temperature of the evaporator core to output the voltage
value to the heater and A/C control assembly depending on the resistance changes
and prevent the evaporator core from being freezing.(에바포레이터 동결 방지)
1) Remove the glove box and Disconnect the connector and unfasten the nut(2ea) and remove the intake actuator
2) Disconnect the connector of EAT sensor and rotate 90 degree and pull out to the direction of the arrow
■ Heater & A/conditioning system
PTC heater
The PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heater is mounted to the heater air outlet of
the air conditioner module. This is used to assist the heating until the engine coolant
temperature reaches to normal range when operating the heater with the vehicle cold.
Since the PTC system is heated by the electrical power, the electric load and alternator
capacity is greater than the conventional one. The PTC is not operated when a) the engine
is cranking, b) the battery voltage is below 11 V, c) the glow plug is being preheated.
1) Remove the lower main panel and knee airbag. Unscrew the screw of foot duct and remove the front end cover by remover
2) Unfasten the bolt(2ea) and disconnect the connector. Remove the PTC heater

A/C CONDENSER
The A/C condenser is mounted in front of the front radiator and condenses vapor refrigerant into low temperature and high
pressure liquid refrigerant. It has the built-in receiver drier, absorbs moisture in the refrigerant and reserves refrigerant to supply
smoothly.
에어컨 콘덴서는 차량 전방 라디에이터 앞쪽에 장착되어 있으며, 기체 상태의 냉매를 응축시켜 저온고압의 액상냉매로

원활하도록 냉매를 저장한다.
BLOWER MOTOR
1) Remove the brake pedal. Disconnect the connector and unscrew the blower motor mounting screw(3ea). Remove the cover
2) Unscrew the screw for fixing(2ea) and remove the blow motor
MOS MODULE
The MOS module is mounted at the bottom of the blower assembly and controls
the fan speed. It receives the fan speed control signal from the heater and A/C
control assembly to control the rotation speed of the blower motor by adjusting
the current applied to the base of the MOS module.(풍량제어 기능)
