● Introduction
Shin Nippon Lanka Pvt. Ltd. (SNL) Is a registered company under Sri Lanka Sustainable
Energy Authority (SLSEA ) as an Energy Services Company. As a registered Energy
Services company, SNL is committed to develop the energy efficiency services sector of the
construction field. Also, SNL realizes the importance of sustainability and its effects on the
physical and natural environment. In recent years, many firms like SNL and building owners
have adopted the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design program (LEED) to ensure a standard is followed throughout project
development. LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building
certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices.LEED
certification helps to identify how environmentally friendly and sustainable a building really is.
LEED takes into account metrics such as:

• Water Efficiency,
• Energy Efficiency,
• CO2 Emissions Reductions,
• Indoor Environmental Quality

There are many issues during construction that require special attention by the Field
Services team to maintain LEED requirement in the site. Protecting Natural Resources,
Minimizing Energy Wastages, Managing Construction waste, maintain acceptable indoor air
quality during and after construction, protection of adjacent occupied spaces from air-borne
contaminants, and building commissioning are just a few of the considerations that must be
addressed.
SNL will commit to maintain LEED requirement during the construction period by sharing of
knowledge and experience of the project team.

● Importance of LEED in MEP Construction Project

The intention of LEED is to certify buildings that are designed, constructed and maintained in a
manner that maximises energy efficiency.

Due to commitment for the LEED during the site implementation, it is possible to gain following

Reduce Envirenmental pollution & reduce distruction to the environment
