WHICH SYSTEM?

There are three main systems to choose from:

STANDARD BOLT-ON SACRIFICIAL SOCKET CLAMP ON

Whichever system is chosen they share some

common features
• Ground level beam dressing is preferable
• The Posts should be positioned at a maximum of 1900mm apart along the
beams and approx. 300mm from the centre of the columns at each end.

The two hook option

Whichever system is used, the default setting will give the option of initially
hanging the barriers with the lower handrail in the second hook to suit the
final, agreed clearance.
The barriers can be lifted by 100mm vertically if required, by using lower
handrail in the first hook to give a working clearance gap under the barriers
for edge trim installation, slab floating etc.

System enhancements available

Netting – this can be combined with our system by attaching to the top rail of the barriers
at 600mm centres. This is where our system is capable of spreading the load effectively.
Telescopic rail and top-up barriers – can be used to provide a ‘double height’ option.

be positioned lower, or rotated. Three drilling options are available.

90 degrees. Two drilling options available.
SHS/RHS – Depending on the depth of the section the Stub may require
rotating 90 degrees. Two drilling options available. This requires the use of
blind bolts (if this is not suitable please consider the sacrificial socket system).

at 1900mm centres, with the remaining closing gap being
covered by either three quarter / half or quarter barrier. If it

• On roof beams, smaller set-out dimensions are required at 30 0

greater overhang of the barrier to cover the gap normally
occupied by a column.

then set the holes at 300mm either side of this joint.
• External corners on floors – 300mm from the centre of 0 30

columns then 1500mm to allow extra overhang of
barriers to close off corners.
• Internal corners – from column centres – 300mm in one
direction and 450mm in the other direction. This ensures
that the bolt-on Stubs do not clash.
• Please note the positioning is flexible within reason and
adjustable to clear connections, etc.
• Cellular beams should be detailed as above. Adjust the
holes that clash with connections or cells and then take an
overview of the centres ensuring the maximum 1900mm
is not exceeded.

site set to suit the relevant floor slab thickness and overhang.

Inside of build
• The face of the top hook is colour coded.
• With each delivery of components, a colour coded drawing
will be provided showing which colour of Post assembly is
to be fixed to which beam.
• The unique ‘single bolt fixing’ system allows for quick and
easy installation and removal. STAGE 2
• The Post assemblies should be installed using M20x60
bolts supplied.
• The Post hooks should always face into the building.
• With the Posts in position, barrier panels should be applied,
initially set with on lower hook to provide final clearance for
finished slab.
• Barrier panels should overlap adjacent barriers by at least STAGE 3
one aperture at each Post where possible.
• Secure the barriers to the Post, the cable ties provided are
to be fitted as a visual aid for inspection
• The section can now be craned into position.
• Use two number pipe clamps to secure the barriers top
and bottom on all external and internal corners
Adjustment of the System STAGE 4
The following adjustment can be made on site:
• The barriers can be lifted by 100mm vertically if required,
by using lower handrail in the first hook to give a working
clearance gap under the barriers for edge trim installation,
slab floating etc.
• Utilising the indexing holes and pins provided, the system
can be adjusted both horizontally & vertically.

TIMBER SOFFIT FIX SYSTEM

Installation of the timber soffit fix system STAGE 1

• The wood fix right angle adaptor plate and the Stub are fixed
to the soffit of the timber. The overall integrity of the system
is dependent on all 6 adaptor plate fixing holes being utilised
and the type of fixing screws used. All users should carry out
calculations to identify which timber screw is suitable for the
timber frame and how many are required to ensure the edge
protection is securely fitted. easi-edge have carried out certain STAGE 2
levels of testing by a random section of structural timber and
impact testing in line with the requirements set out in the
standard for edge protection systems, BS EN 13374. To enable
the system to conform to this classification, the fixings should
achieve a pull out force of a minimum 20Kn.
• With the wood fix right angle adaptor plate and the Stub in
position, screw 6 number timber fixing screws into the soffit

of the timber. Fixing screws to be supplied by others
• The Post hooks should always face into the building.
• With the wood fix right angle adaptor plate and the Stub
in position, Posts can be installed in to the Boot to the
required height.
• Barrier panels should overlap adjacent barriers by at least
one aperture at each Post where possible. STAGE 4
• With Posts in position barrier panels should be applied,
initially set with on the lower hook to provide final
clearance for finished slab.
• Secure the barriers to the Post, the cable ties provided are
to be fitted as a visual aid for inspection
• Use two number pipe clamps to secure the barriers top
and bottom on all external and internal corners.

Detailing of the System

There are a few basic set-out procedures to apply when detailing the surface mounted system.
Landing Corner – 250mm from the corner, further if a wall is to be built along the edge of the landing.
Typically 100mm - in from the edge of the concrete (flights and landings).
Returns on flights may require single Post and quarter panel.
Different maximum centre for panels when used on stairs to avoid too much clashing.
Please note these are starting parameters and within reason are adjustable.

Installation of the stair system STAIR SOCKET

• This system can be dressed to the PC stairs at ground level
(preferable) or in-situ, whichever is most suitable. If ground
level installation is not an available option then PPE should
be utilised in accordance with working at height regulations.
• The cast-in fixings (M16x100) will have been installed at
appropriate positions around the castings.
• Surface mounted stair sockets (E-03450) should be applied
to the cast-in fixings and M16x45 set screws and washers
inserted and hand tightened.
• Posts should now be inserted into the sockets and indexing
pins inserted to set the height required. Stair Posts (E-00450)
should be used on the stair flights and standard Posts
(E-00400) used on landings.
• The Post hooks should always face into the stair.
• Holes in the baseplates of the units are slotted allowing
final positioning adjustments to be made (temporary
application of barriers may help positioning). The screws
should be fully tightened.
• Stair wings (E-02000) should be attached to the top and
bottom panels of each flight. With each initial delivery of a
staircase a marked up print will be supplied indicating Post
locations and barrier sizes.
• Secure the barriers to the Post, the cable ties provided are
to be fitted as a visual aid for inspection.
• Use two number pipe clamps to secure the barriers
top and bottom on all external and internal corners.
