INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION

Before starting any operation on the device, it is
essential to read this manual carefully.
CAODURO Spa declines all responsibility in the event
that the safety requirements listed in this manual are
not observed.
Compliance with the European Directive is bound to the
use of original CAODURO products in the maintenance
activities indicated in this manual.
Failure to comply with this compliance invalidates the
conformity of the device and raises Caoduro Spa from
any possible defect or failure.
ATTENTION
The SMOKE LAME evacuator can be part of a NSHEV
smoke and heat evacuation system, an active fire
protection system which, among other purposes, aims
to safeguard the lives of people who are located inside
the room. In this case you are carrying out restoration
operations on which the safety of the people who are
inside the building protected by this device may
depend.
The device can be used by children under the age of 8
and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental
abilities or without experience or the necessary
knowledge, as long as they are supervised or after they
have received instructions relating to use. safe of the
appliance and an understanding of the dangers inherent
to it. Children must not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and maintenance intended to be carried out
by the user must not be carried out by unsupervised
children.

For connections to 230V mains voltage, use only

double-insulated cables (cables with sheath). The
double insulation of the cables must be maintained up
to the immediate vicinity of the terminals, stripping
them only in the immediate vicinity of the terminal
blocks and must also be bound by clamps.
The very low safety voltage conductors must be
physically separated (at least 4 mm in the air) from the
mains voltage conductors or must be adequately
insulated with additional insulation having a thickness
of at least 1 mm.
Provide a device upstream of the power supply network
that ensures complete omnipolar disconnection from
the network, with a contact opening distance in each
pole of at least 3mm. The instructions must indicate
that these disconnecting devices must be provided in
the power supply network in accordance with the
installation rules and must be directly connected to the
power supply terminals.
If the power supply cable is damaged, it must be
replaced by the technical assistance service or in any
case by a person with similar qualifications, in order to
prevent any risk.
The high voltage power cables must be inserted in
ducts separate from the low voltage ones.
If the switchboard is installed in a position subject to
dripping of oil, grease or similar substances, it must be
protected so that they cannot come into contact with
the internal parts (insulation, cables, windings, etc.)
During the installation phase, the installer must bind all
the conductors to an additional fastening near the
terminals, for example through cable ties. The cables
must be unsheathed only in the immediate vicinity of
the terminals for a limited length.
The cable passages must be smooth and must not have
sharp edges. The cables must be protected so that they

do not come into contact with roughness, burrs or

similar edges that could cause abrasions to their
insulation.
Any contact between cables and moving parts must be
effectively prevented.

Check the dimensions of the hole so that they are suitable for receiving the device supplied.
The surfaces of the perimeter supports that will be in contact with the device must be
smooth, they must not have hollows or roughness and if they were made of hollow bricks
and / or concrete they must be able to guarantee the use of an expansion plug.

1.2 BASEMENT ASSEMBLY

on the hole to be covered, then fixing it to the
underlying structure using the anchors supplied
and the holes provided in the lower wing (1).

Once the base is fixed, the waterproofing mantle is spread up to the top of the same,
avoiding the overlaps of the sheath in the corner areas.

1.3 INSULATION CUTTING AND INSERTION

Insert the insulating panels along the perimeter of the base. Tarred side towards the
outside.

Shape the panels in the hatched parts if in the presence of an inclined basement.

Spread the waterproofing mantle up to the top of the same avoiding the overlaps of
the sheath in the corner areas.

2.1 SMOKE LAME ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

Attention, the connection instructions contained in this paragraph refer to

basic SMOKE LAME devices that do not require the use of the QE EL panel
For the connection of SMOKE LAME equipped with QE EL panel see the panel
manual

Connect the motor as shown in the following diagram

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Dimension the conductors with a section suitable for the electrical load and the length of
the line. It is mandatory to supply power to the motor only during the movement period
using interlocked central zero buttons or relays timed with the stroke time. In the event
that power is removed from the actuator before it has performed a stroke of at least 2.5
cm, the motor does not accept a command to operate in the opposite direction. After the
actuator has carried out a stroke of at least 2.5 cm, in the event of an overcurrent stop
(limit switch or obstacle) the motor does not accept a command in the same direction of
operation. The actuator must not be installed for strokes of less than 6 cm.

3.1 INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
To be carried out in accordance with the Ministerial Decree of 10 March 1998

The inspection consists of an
essentially visual operation.
In the event that any components
are found to be damaged or in an
evident state of deterioration, these
elements must be replaced.

actuator in the event of a fault

carried out with a maximum annual
deadline.
Visually check at least once a year that
the power conductors are not damaged
and that they do not show obvious
signs of wear.
The actuator is maintenance-free.
Conductors with a minimum section of
1 mm and in any case with a section
suitable for the electrical load and the
length of the line.

• Open the device by pressing the slat opening / closing button.

• Check that the rotation movement is smooth and without friction
• Check that they reach the limit switches in opening (90 °) and in closing
(abutting one on the other) ensuring the correct closure of the same

• If the STE1 thermoelectric sensor is activated, reposition the thermal bulb in its
original position as shown in the photograph on page 12/16. Lift the red knob,
insert the cruet and lower the red knob again.
