1. A vector field is given by 𝑭 = (3𝑥 − 2𝑦, 7𝑦 + 5𝑥, 0)

a) Find the integral of F along the straight line from the origin to the point (4, 0).

b) Find the integral of F along the straight line from the point (4, 0) to (4, 5).

c) Find the integral of F along the straight line from the origin to the point (4, 5).

(nb 5x = 4y along this line.)

d) Find the loop integral of F anticlockwise around the triangle formed by the lines
of a), b) and c).

2. The z-axis is also the axis of a right circular cylinder of radius 1.5 and whose end faces are at z
= 0 and z = 2.5. There is a vector field given by F = (0, 0, 3 + 2z3) .

a) Find the flux of F through each end face and the curved face of the cylinder.

b) Find ∇. 𝑭
c) Evaluate the integral of ∇. 𝑭over the cylinder volume, and
comment.
