For this pattern you will need:
Worsted weight yarn
3.25 mm crochet hook
Fiberfill stuffing
A pair of 5 mm safety eyes (or embroidery floss to make eyes)
Black yarn or embroidery floss (for mouth)
An embroidery needle to weave in ends
Stitch markers (optional, but useful to mark the 1st stitch as we will be working the body in continuous rounds)
A cardstock tag (approximately 1.25" high and 2" wide with a positive message on it and a small hole on each side) *Tip - a
Cricut can be useful here if you have one!
Row 2
Working in rounds, 2 sc in each st around. (16 sts)
Row 3
1 sc in next st, inc in next st. Rep around. (24 sts)
From row 4 to 9:
1 sc in each st around. (24 sts)
Row 10
1 sc in each of next 2 sts, inc in next st. Rep around. (32 sts)
Row 11
1 sc in each st around. (32 sts)
Row 12
1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, inc in next st. Rep around. (40 sts)
Row 19
1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, dec over the next 2 sts. Rep
around. (32 sts)
Row 20
1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, dec over the next 2 sts. Rep
around. (24 sts)
Row 21
1 sc in the next st, dec over the next 2 sts. Rep around. (16 sts)
Row 22
Dec over the next 2 sts. Rep around. (8 sts)
Sl st to the 1st st in the round and fasten off, leaving a tail for
weaving in. Using the tail, go over and under the stitches in the
last row and pull the tail to close the hole. Weave in the end.
Arms
Row 1
Working into one of the holes on the side of the tag, work 2 sc.
Ch 1 and turn. (2 sts)
Row 2
Inc in the 1st st, 1 sc in the next st. Ch 1 and tutn. (3 sts)
From row 3 to 6:
1 sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (3 sts)
Weave in the short tails from the beginning row. Use the longer
tails to sew the arms to the side of the body so that the tag is
held in the front of the potato. Weave in the ends.
