• Develops an insight into interdependence among plants, animals and human beings.

• Compares the relationship between bounty of nature and livelihood.

• Creating awareness on balance between nature and humans.

• Suggest ways for protecting habitats.

• Collection of data- interpretation and analysis

• Learns the importance of protecting environment and preserving animal habitats

• Develops creative writing skills

• Adds words related to habitat to their vocabulary

• Develops critical thinking

• Critically analyses and learns how to adjust with adverse situations of life

• Develops the ability to write stories, poems, newspaper reports, comic strips, diary entries etc.

• Develops an ability to define terms like ‘herbivore’, ‘carnivore’, ‘omnivore’ etc

• Finding integers in daily life

• Large numbers, Indian system of numeration and international system of numeration.

• Understands the concept of area and calculating area

DESIGN THINKING-ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITIES…….
• Prepare a slogan showing the importance of preserving our environment.

• Prepare an article on any animal and how its body is adapted to survive in that habitat.

• Choose one fable and make a comic strip of it

Write about endangered species

• Compose a poem on your favorite animal

• Observe discovery channel and write a report on the habitat of any animal
ACTIVITIES……
• Mapping /Locating on a world map -areas of different habitat like forests ,oceans, mountains, deserts, polar
regions etc

• Identifying plants and animals of these regions .

• Transition in life style -Nomadic to settled life-changes in habitats.

• Identifying crops cultivated in a particular region

• Nurturing the nature-measures to protect habitat-collection of reports and articles


ACTIVITIES…..

• Prepare a record about temperature variation of different areas during each of the season, and search

reason behind that. Land lock cities, coastal areas, desert areas… etc

• Prepare an album of a few wild life sanctuaries or national parks and find out facts like area and

numbers of various animals being protected there

• Collection of data related to forest area in India/World


ACTIVITIES….
• Select a few animals and separate them as terrestrial and aquatic’
• List out the names of animals found in desert, grasslands and mountain regions and paste pictures of these
animals.
• Take one or two examples like Yak and Mountain goat and write the adaptations or special characters that
help them to live in such places.
• Make a collage of a grassland with animals living there.
• Point out the characters that help a lion and a deer to live in a grassland.
• Choose an aquatic plant growing in your area. Take a photograph and paste it. Compare how it differs from a
terrestrial plant.
• How a frog is able to live on land as well as in water? List out the reasons…
• Write slogans appreciating the beauty and complexities of nature.
