Experience's in Therapeutic Benefits of Hand

Spa in beauty care
Introduction
The study on the therapeutic benefits of hand spa was conducted by various
researchers and organizations. One study evaluated the effects of a 15-minute non-
therapeutic hand massage .
Therapeutic hand spas offer numerous benefits, including relaxation, improved
circulation, and relief from conditions like arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. The
practice of hand spa treatments has ancient roots, with cultures like the Egyptians
and Romans using baths and massage for therapeutic purposes. However, the
modern concept of hand spas emerged in the late 20th century as part of the
broader spa industry's growth. While it's challenging to pinpoint a single inventor or
specific years for its inception, the popularity of hand spa treatments has steadily
increased, driven by the growing awareness of self-care and holistic health
practices.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Studies conducted by the International Spa Association show that the spa industry
is growing rapidly (International Spa Association, 2014). The spa industry has played
an important role in generating revenue for Thailand since the 1970s
(Apivantanaporn & Walsh, 2012). Khamanarong, Khamanarong, and Khamanarong
(2009) categorized the spa business as a service industry which aims to generate
profit.
Thus, it is necessary to explore elements of the spa industry to gain further insight
into ways that promote successful operations. To retain valuable employees, spa
operators need to have a sense of what drives them
beyond a mere paycheck and what factors contribute to their perceptions of
satisfaction with their jobs. Bowen (1997) emphasizes the importance of internal
marketing, a process by which a company seeks to enhance its internal operations,
often in the form of motivating employees.
.These practices include empowering the employees through inclusion in the
decision making process, advocating a climate of positive employee relations and
teamwork, acknowledging employee contribution, and utilizing a system of
rewards to reinforce a commitment to quality (Blackburn & Rosen, 1993).

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Therapeutic
In therapeutic of various interventions, numerous studies have been conducted to
examine the effectiveness of different therapeutic approaches in promoting mental
health and well-being. One notable study that highlights the therapeutic benefits of
mindfulness-based interventions is the research conducted by Hofmann et al. (2010)
titled "The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Therapy on Anxiety and Depression
This meta-analysis reviewed 39 studies involving mindfulness-based interventions
and found significant improvements in anxiety, depression, and overall well-being
among participants who underwent a cc tomindfulness therapy compared to those
who did not. The study demonstrated the positive impact of mindfulness-based
interventions on mental health outcomes, highlighting the therapeutic benefits of
incorporating mindfulness practices into treatment approaches.
of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is the research by Butler et al. (2006) titled
"The Clinical Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Therapy: A Practice-Based
Evidence Study." This study examined the effectiveness of CBT in treating various
mental health conditions and found that CBT was associated with significant
improvements in symptoms and functioning across different populations.
Moreover, research by Kuyken et al. (2016) titled "Efficacy of Mindfulness-Based
Cognitive Therapy in Prevention of Depressive Relapse" demonstrated the
preventive therapeutic benefits of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in reducing
the risk of depressive relapse among individuals with a history of depression. The
study highlighted the long-term positive effects of mindfulness-based interventions
in maintaining mental well-being and preventing relapse.
These studies underscore the importance of evidence-based research in
understanding the therapeutic benefits of different interventions and provide
valuable insights into the effectiveness of mindfulness-based and cognitive-
behavioral therapies in promoting mental health and overall well-being.
hand spa
Hand spas highlights a range of positive health outcomes facilitated by various
treatments such as warm water soaks, exfoliation, moisturizing, and massage.
Research consistently supports the efficacy of these treatments in enhancing both
physical and mental well-being. Studies from the fields of physical therapy,
dermatology, and wellness consistently emphasize the significant improvements in
health and comfort that hand spa treatments can provide.
Warm water soaks have been extensively researched for their therapeutic benefits.
A study published in the *Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development*
demonstrated that warm water immersion increases blood flow to the hands,
which is crucial for reducing inflammation and promoting tissue repair. This is
especially beneficial for individuals with chronic conditions like arthritis or repetitive
strain injuries. The warmth of the water helps relax muscles and joints, providing
immediate pain relief and improving the range of motion in the hands. This
research underscores the importance of warm water soaks in managing hand-
related conditions and enhancing overall hand function.
Exfoliation and moisturizing treatments are also key components of hand spas, with
significant dermatological benefits. The *Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic
Dermatology* published findings indicating that regular exfoliation helps remove
dead skin cells, thereby improving skin texture and appearance. This process also
facilitates better absorption of moisturizers, which are essential for maintaining skin
hydration and preventing dryness. Furthermore, a study in *Dermatologic Therapy*
found that consistent use of moisturizers strengthens the skin barrier, reducing the
risk of infections and environmental damage. These studies collectively highlight
the importance of exfoliation and moisturizing in promoting healthy, resilient skin.

Hand massages are another crucial element of hand spa treatments, offering
substantial therapeutic benefits. Research published in the *Journal of Bodywork
and Movement Therapies* showed that hand massages can significantly reduce
muscle tension and pain, improve joint flexibility, and enhance overall hand function.
This is particularly beneficial for individuals with conditions like carpal tunnel
syndrome or those who engage in repetitive hand tasks.

Objectives. Open, prospective study to evaluate the effect of spa therapy on
generalized osteoarthritis (GOA). Methods. Patients diagnosed as GOA were
recruited from a private outpatient clinic. The treatment protocol was designed
with 6 different spa modalities, 3 for each consecutive day, during 18 days.
Interventions were Berthollet’s technique (local mineral water cloud application),
peloidotherapy, hydrotherapy, under water /standard (dry) massage, supervised
water exercise, bath in hydro-massage pool, bath in tub with hydro-jets, free
immersion in mineral water pool. The primary outcome was a clinically relevant
improvement in 50% of patients at the end of the treatment. Statistical analyses
were based on intention-to-treat method. Health care providers were blinded to the
study. Results. Ninety nine patients were included between March 7th-April 29th
2011 and all were analyzed for the primary outcome. Clinically relevant
improvement was observed in 61% of the patients at the end of the treatment, and
68% at the 8th month. Patient acceptable symptom state was achieved in 33% of
the patients at the 3rd week and 75% at the 8th month and Outcome Measures in
Rheumatology-Osteoarthritis Research Society International Criteria (OMERACT-
OARSI criteria) response in 41% of the patients at the 3rd week and 19% at the
8th month. Improvement was also observed in other judgment criteria evaluating
pain, function and quality of life and continued until the 8th month for some of the
parameters. No serious adverse effect was observed. Conclusions. Spa treatment
may improve the clinical status of patients with GOA and seems to be well tolerated.
Relieving affect of therapeutic in human body
Spa therapy (balneotherapy) relieves mental stress, sleep disorder, and general
health problems in sub-healthy people
Bei Yang, Qi-zhong Qin, Ling-li Han, Jing Lin, Yu Chen
International journal of biometeorology 62, 261-272, 201
To investigate the relieving effects of hot spring balneotherapy on mental stress,
sleep disorder, general health problems, and women’s health problems in sub-
healthy people, we recruited 500 volunteers in sub-health in Chongqing, and 362
volunteers completed the project, including 223 in the intervention group and 139 in
the control group. The intervention group underwent hot spring balneotherapy for
5 months, while the control group did not. The two groups took questionnaire
investigation (general data, mental stress, emotional status, sleep quality, general
health problems, as well as some women’s health problems) and physical
examination (height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, blood lipid, blood
sugar) 5 months before and after the intervention, respectively.
After intervention, sleep disorder, difficulty in falling asleep, dreaminess, nightmare
suffering, and restless sleep, easy awakening and difficulty in falling into sleep
again after awakening and mental stress and problems of general health such as
head pain, joint pain, leg or foot cramps, blurred vision were relieved significantly in
the intervention group, as compared with the control group. While other indicators
(fatigue, eye tiredness, limb numbness, constipation, skin allergy) and women’s
health problems (breast distending pain; dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation)
were relieved significantly in the self-comparison of the intervention group before
and after intervention, but showed no statistically significant difference between
two groups. All indications (except bad mood, low mood, and worry or irritability) in
the intervention group significantly improved.Multiple logistic regression analysis
showed that the frequency, length, and location of balneotherapy in the
intervention group were the factors influencing emotion, sleep, and health
condition. Relief of insomnia, fatigue, and leg or foot cramps was greater in old-age
group than in young-aged group. Physical examination found that waist
circumferences in women of various ages under 55 years were significantly
reduced in the intervention group, while that in men did not significantly change.
Spa therapy (balneotherapy) relieves mental stress, sleep disorder, general health,
and reduces women’s waist circumferences in sub-healthy people.
