Every year on April 22nd, people around the world celebrate International Earth Day to
raise awareness of the need for environmental protection and sustainable development. This
year's theme is "Restore Our Earth," which aims to encourage individuals and organizations
to take action to mitigate climate change, conserve biodiversity, and promote sustainable
living.

To mark this occasion, the World Wildlife Fund ( WWF ) has released a new report titled "60
Actions for the Planet 2023," which outlines practical steps that individuals and businesses
can take to reduce their environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.

The report is divided into five categories: energy, nature, food, circular economy, and cities.
Each section includes 12 actions that are easy to implement and can have a significant
positive impact on the environment. Some of the actions include:

Investing in renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power;

Protecting and restoring forests, wetlands, and other natural habitats;

Choosing plant-based foods and reducing food waste;

Using recycled materials and reducing single-use plastics;

Encouraging sustainable urban planning and transportation options.

The WWF report emphasizes the importance of taking collective action to address
environmental challenges. While individual actions are essential, it's also crucial for
governments, businesses, and communities to work together to create systemic change and
build a more sustainable future.

As individuals, we can do our part by adopting sustainable habits and encouraging others to
do the same. However, we also need to hold our leaders accountable for creating policies
and regulations that prioritize environmental protection and social justice.

Last weekend, I had an amazing experience with my family at Yusen Logistics (Europe) 's
teambuilding event, in conjunction with International Earth Day. It was not only a fun-filled
day, but we also collected garbage to help protect our environment. During the event, a
volunteer from WWF Jorn van der Veer explained the devastating impact of plastic pollution
on our planet, and how important it is for us to take action.

These types of events are essential in raising awareness of environmental issues and
promoting the message that we are all responsible for the planet's well-being.

It is a joint effort that requires the participation of everyone not only on International Earth
Day but every day! By involving children in these activities, we instill in them the importance
of environmental protection as a habit and a way of life.

On this International Earth Day, let's commit to taking action to protect our planet and
build a more sustainable future for all. We can all make a difference, one action at a time.
