EXT. FIELD (AFTERNOON)
pt
The audience are immediately drawn into the action as the first
shot shows a dead body lying in a field. Amidst the chaos, we can
also see the grass and trees swaying as the clouds have began to
approach, giving of an eerie feel. The surrounding area is
flashing red and blue as there are police cars around as well as
crime scene tape blocking off the area. We can also faintly hear
the sound of emergency vehicles in the distance to add more
effect.
The camera then gets closer to the body and we can see blood all
over the back of the boy who is in a white t-shirt and black
joggers. It is clear he has suffered a fatal stab wound to the
back however there is no murder weapon in sight.
We then are shown a detective walking over to the body from an
angle far away in the bushes. He is placing down evidence markers
and taking photographs of the body before suddenly, he hears
rustling from the bushes and quickly stares over in that
direction.
The camera then cuts back to the bushes where we see a figure
begin to walk away. The camera is tracking him through an
alleyway from behind however we still don’t know what they look
like as they have their hood up. They are clearly on edge as they
keep looking back behind them.
The scene then cuts to once again showing this person from
behind, still wearing the same hoodie. We can hear the tap
running and see their hands moving around before the camera
slowly pans up over their shoulder and we can see a bloody knife
in the sink, desperately trying to get cleaned by its owner.
The next shot shows the room empty before the door swings open
and cuts to a close up of the washing machine. A pile of clothes
is getting put in there before we see the door shut and the load
start to spin. This then slowly fades out and text comes on
screen saying, ‘earlier that day...’

MUM:
Tyler darling, breakfast is ready!
TYLER:
Alright just finishing this game.
We then see the mum walking upstairs however she stops half way
on the landing.
MUM:
BREAKFAST IS READY JACK!
JACK:
Okay coming
MUM:
(sighs)JACK CO-
Before she finishes the second time the bedroom door at the top
of the stairs swings open and we are introduced to our second
brother. They both head downstairs.
JACK:
Where’s Tyler?
MUM:
Oh he’s just finishing his game
JACK:
What that’s not fair how come I had to come down straight-
MUM:
Don’t argue with me.
Jack goes and sits down alongside his mother, his younger brother
Tyler and his older brother Liam who we are introduced to for the
first time.
MUM:
Oh I forgot to get the bowls out, Jack do you mind?
5
JACK:
(mumbles) Of course.
MUM:
JACK GET BACK HERE PUT YOUR BOWL AWAY. Oh um, and you Liam.
JACK:
WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME? WHY DO YOU TREAT TYLER SO SPECIAL?
MUM:
HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO YOUR MOTHER LIKE THAT! GO TO YOUR ROOM
NOW!
TYLER:
Haha, yeah Jack.
MUM:
Jack come on down someone is here to see us.
He goes back downstairs again to see the whole family sat down on
the sofa along with a man dressed in smart clothing who is pacing
around the room. He is a detective from the local police
department and said he had some news for them all.
DETECTIVE:
I am deeply saddened to say, but Mrs Hughes your son, Tyler,
has sadly past away earlier today. We believe he was
murdered.
MUM:
NO, MY BOY. THIS CAN’T BE TRUE.
DETECTIVE:
I’m sorry for your loss.
6
We can see the two boys and their mum crying together on the sofa
as sad music is playing in the background and the camera pans
out.
Liam and Jack are sat at the counter looking solemnly at the
ground.
LIAM:
Who would do such a thing. I mean everyone loved Tyler. We
need to find out who did this. Where do we start?
JACK:
I heard the other day he was arguing with Aaron on Xbox over
something. They haven’t spoke since. That’s why he went out
earlier they were going to meet and solve things.
LIAM:
It’s gotta be him then. I’ve got his number lets ring him up
see what he has to say.
AARON:
Ah Liam hello, I can’t get hold of Tyler do you know where
he is?
LIAM:
You know exactly where he is. DEAD! You killed him!
AARON:
Liam what are you talking about? I’ve been waiting here for
an hour for him and he hasn’t turned up I haven’t seen him.
LIAM:
But you’ve been arguing. Gives you a reason. Anyway what was
that even about?
AARON:
It was over Bella, his ex. He wants her back and I was
telling him not to after what happened last time. That
7
LIAM:
You know, maybe he’s right. Maybe Bella has something to do
with this.
JACK:
We can’t rule out Aaron for now though. He’s still a
suspect.
We then see the two boys in the car heading over to Bella’s house
to confront her. It first shows them both inside the car however
there is a pan shot from the outside of the car going past. It
eventually cuts to them pulling up, before they get out the car
and start walking down the road.
JACK:
Why don’t you go check out the side gate, in case she’s in
the garden.
The camera follows Liam round to the gate however once he gets
there, he hears the front door open so heads back.
BELLA:
No I've already had to deal with the police today, I'm not
answering anymore questions from you.
JACK:
WAIT WAIT WAIT! Just one question
BELLA:
Ugh fine go on.
JACK:
What is that hiding in the flowerbed?
BELLA:
What do you mean?
8
JACK:
I KNEW IT SHE KILLED HIM SHE KILLED HIM!
BELLA:
I don’t know how that’s got there, it’s not me I swear!
The boys run back to the car and quickly drive away, with the
knife in hand.
JACK:
We have to go to the police. We have all the evidence we
need to get her locked up.
LIAM:
Let’s go home first, this is a lot to take in. We need to be
certain.
LIAM:
I mean it just doesn’t make sense. Why would she use that
knife to stab him, then clean it then after all that hide it
in plain sight in the front garden?
JACK:
You’re looking too much into it man. She’s got the
murder weapon. Come on let’s go.
Suddenly, Liam gets a message from his phone and to his surprise,
it’s Bella. She tells him to come back to hers as she has
important information about the case. However, he must come
alone.
LIAM:
Why don’t u stay here and look after mum, she’s not been
coping very well. As the older brother, I’ll deal with this
JACK:
Alright okay.
BELLA:
Look, I know you may not trust me, but you have to look at
this.
LIAM:
Hello, yes I have some information on the Tyler Hughes case.
I know who murdered him.
DETECTIVE:
Okay, who is it, do you have substantial evidence?
LIAM:
Yes, there’s video proof. It's Jack. Jack Hughes. My
own brother.
As he says the final line, he raises his head and looks straight
into the camera. This is where the music cuts and the screen goes
blank before the credits roll. This leaves the audience knowing
what happened, yet still on a cliff-hanger as they don’t know
what happened after.

Roman is 20 years old and therefore will play the oldest brother in my production.
This fits well as it will look realistic as he looks a lot older compared to the
youngest brother in the film who is only 16.
Matthew Sydenham:
Matthew is 18 and therefore fits the role perfectly for the middle child. He lives
nearby therefore can easily come round for filming giving me more flexibility.
Tommy Mainwood:
I will be playing the youngest brother which once again, works out as I am the
shortest and look the youngest compared to Roman and Matt. I have given myself
a role where I won’t be involved much which is because I need to be filming at the
other points.
Julian Mainwood:
Julian will be playing the Inspector which also works with his age. Most the time,
Inspectors are older as it takes a lot of hard work and skill to get to that point and
with Julian being in his 50s, this works.
Helen Mainwood:
Helen will be playing the mum in my production which is a good fit as she has
been a mum for 20 years so understands the role well. Because of this, her age
also fits the character profiles I made.
Charlotte Mainwood:
Charlotte will be playing the ex-boyfriend of Tyler making her seem like a suspect,
especially after Jack frames her. In the film she will be 17 however in real life, she
is also 20. This won’t be a problem too much as it will be hard to notice.

Contingency Plan
I feel that contingency plans are useful for situations where uncontrollable events
may occur, causing your actors to no longer make it or locations no longer being
able to be filmed at. Without having an option as backup, it will leave you in a very
difficult situation where you will be stuck and have no actor at all. I feel I don’t
need backup actors for the Mum and the Inspector as they are both going to be
played by my parents so I know they can 100% make it. Also, I don’t know anyone
else from that older demographic that would be able to or want to participate.
