➢Moreover, 447 million of India’s total population was illiterate in

2015-16, as per the report of IMA India, 2017.
➢Inability of our country to produce world class professionals, in
proportion to its population count, raises questions on our education
system.
➢According to ToI report, 28
students on an average committed
suicide every 24 hours during 2018.
➢Out of 81,758 students who
committed suicide from Jan 1st,
2009 to Dec 31st, 2018, 57% killed
themselves in last 5 years, including
10,159 suicides in 2018, highest in
the decade.
According to a report by IMA India,
➢ We have a workforce of 462.5 million, as till 2015.
➢ Around one third of the workforce was illiterate in 2011-12.
➢ Around 50% of humanities, 32.2% of medical and 39% of
engineering/technology graduates were unemployed in 2015-
16.
➢ Only 59% of graduates were employed in 2011-12.
➢ The mismatch of the available jobs and job-seeker skillset and
experience is the key reason of unemployment.
• During the pandemic, the unemployment rate in India went
up to 23.5 % as compared to 5-6% before pandemic.
These figures clearly shows that despite of being the second
largest country in terms of available human resources, we are not
successful in using them, to the full of its capacity.
➢A large proportion of Indian students give up on their dreams.
Parental pressure, lack of motivation, fear of failure, peer
pressure, financial problems, education system and sometimes
corruption- these are very general reasons, apart from the
various particular reasons for the different students to give up on
their dreams.
➢Lack of motivation, proper guidance and constant
encouragement for the individuals with potential to achieve their
dreams and bring significant changes in the our existing
stereotypical society.
