Honors and Achievements

 July/2023: I have recently developed the "Dubai Waste Management Effectiveness Index" (DWMEI), which
serves as the first and only index for assessing and quantifying the effectiveness of waste management
operations in Dubai. This comprehensive index integrates 12 primary criteria and 44 sub-criteria, encompassing
various aspects of waste operations to provide a holistic evaluation.
 June/2023: I have submitted a comprehensive file on "Digital Transformation of Waste Management in Dubai"
for the Assets Management 4.0 Awards in Belgium. Dubai Municipality is the sole Emirati organization shortlisted
to represent Dubai in this event scheduled for October 2023.
 Jan/2023: I successfully presented and defended my viable suggestion on "Converting Agricultural Waste into
Environmentally Friendly Charcoal Cubes" before the Financial Suggestions Discussion Committee of Dubai
Municipality. The committee has recommended the implementation of this suggestion and it will soon be
presented to the higher leadership of Dubai Municipality. This recognition highlights the potential positive impact
of my idea in promoting sustainability and waste management practices within the organization.

 Jan & Mar/2022: I have obtained two Intellectual Properties from the Ministry of Economy for conducting two
comprehensive studies: "A Benchmarking Study of the KPI of the Percentage of Solid Waste Diversion from
Landfills" and "A Comprehensive Study of the Recycling Industry's Challenges and Solutions in the Emirate of
Dubai." These achievements demonstrate my dedication to conducting research and providing valuable insights
into waste management and recycling practices in Dubai.
 Aug/2021: I am honored to have received recognition from the CEO of the Business Development Sector and
Innovation Value Ambassador of Dubai Municipality for my active participation in applying creative ideas within
the Improvement Ideas category of the institutional suggestion system from 2019 to 2021. This
acknowledgement highlights my commitment to fostering innovation and contributing to the continuous
improvement of the organization.
 July/2019: I am honored to have received recognition from His Excellency Eng. Dawoud Al-Hajiri, the Director
General of Dubai Municipality, for my contribution in achieving the Ideas Arabia 2019 Awards in the Financial
Category.
 June/2019: I have been honored with the appointment as an esteemed editorial board member for the Journal
of Ecology & Natural Resources, published by Medwin Publisher Company based in the United States.
 February/2018: I have been appointed as an esteemed editorial board member for the Journal of Natural
Conservation and Research, published by EnPress Publisher Company based in the United States. This role
highlights my expertise and involvement in the field of natural conservation, further contributing to the

 2015: I have been appointed as an international scientific reviewer for two esteemed refereed scientific journals:
the Arabian Journal of Geosciences based in KSA and the Environmental Earth Sciences Journal based in

research in the respective fields.
 30/11/2013: My master's thesis has been recognized and classified among the influential works worldwide,

 22/3/2011: I am honored to have received a prestigious Excellence Trophy in recognition of attaining the top

 15/07/2022 – Now: Senior Treatment Systems Projects Engineer at Waste Operations Department
of Dubai Municipality: Played a key role in various projects and initiatives focused on waste management and
sustainability in Dubai, contributed to the development and implementation of innovative waste treatment
systems and processes projects through the partnership with the private sector, participated in the design and
establishment of waste disposal sites, ensuring efficient and environmentally friendly operations, collaborated
with cross-functional teams to drive scientific innovation and foster creativity in waste management practices,
and provided expertise and support in the execution of investment projects, conducting thorough feasibility

 10/07/2016 – 14/07/2022: Treatment Systems Projects Engineer at Waste Management


Department of Dubai Municipality: Supervising the environmental treatment systems and processes in the
Emirate of Dubai, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards, headed the waste disposal sites
development team at the Emirate level, overseeing strategic initiatives, coordinated and served as rapporteur for
Scientific Innovation and the Development and Creativity team, managed investment projects, conducting
technical and economic feasibility studies for integrated waste management initiatives, and contributed as an
executive member in the management of institutional excellence.

 14/9/2015 – 1/12/2015: Environmental Engineer at Al-Serkal ENVIROL, a Waste Edible Oil Recycling
Plant, I held the responsibilities of: Initiating and leading awareness campaigns to promote the recycling of waste
edible oil, monitoring the air quality within and surrounding the plant, supervising the operation of the industrial
wastewater treatment plant, monitoring the quality of wastewater effluent, monitoring and enhancing the odor
control system within the plant, ensuring and maintaining quality control and occupational health and safety
standards, conducting risk evaluation and assessment, and preparation of inspection reports, quality reports, and
checklists as required.

 17/8/2014 – 15/4/2015: Research Engineer at the Water and Environmental Studies Institute
(WESI), An-Najah National University, I actively participated in a pioneering Palestinian-Dutch joint project
titled "Developing Agricultural Best Management Practices to Preserve Groundwater Quality in Faria
Catchment/WB - Palestine." This project marks the first of its kind in Palestine and involved a range of activities,
including: Conducting a comprehensive field survey to gather relevant data, developing a GIS-based groundwater
vulnerability map to assess areas suspicious of groundwater pollution, establishing a groundwater quality
monitoring strategy for effective analysis, conducting rigorous groundwater quality analyses to evaluate water
quality parameters, creating a GIS-based agricultural land use suitability map to aid in decision-making,
developing agricultural best management practices to optimize sustainable practices, and crafting policy briefs to
communicate project findings and recommendations.

 23/4/2014 – 15/7/2014: Storm Water Designer Engineer at Arabtech Jardaneh Palestine (AJP) in
Ramallah, Palestine, and under the supervision of the American company Black and Veatch, my responsibilities
involved conducting hydrologic modeling and analyses of the Tulkarem catchment in the Northern West Bank.
The primary objective of this modeling was to calculate design flow rates essential for the hydraulic design of
culverts. To accomplish this, I utilized the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers HEC-HMS Model in conjunction with GIS
tools to accurately compute the required design flow rates.

 22/4/2014 – 1/5/2014: A Lecturer in a project led by the Palestinian Agricultural Relief and funded
by the European Union, in collaboration with Beir-Zeit University. The project spanned Beit Dajan and
Anza schools in the northern region of the West Bank. The project focused on wastewater treatment plants and
aimed to enhance the students' awareness regarding their importance and benefits. Various activities were
conducted to engage the students and foster their understanding of wastewater treatment practices within their
communities.

 16/2/2014 – 15/7/2014: A Hydrologist at the Consultation Engineering Center (CEC) in Ramallah,


Palestine, and under the supervision of the American company Black and Veatch, I conducted hydrologic
modeling and analyses of the Al-Badan, Hebron, and Qabatiah catchments in the West Bank. The primary
objective of this modeling was to calculate the design flow rates required for the hydraulic design of culverts
along the Al-Badan-Al-Nassariah Road and Qabatiah-Al-Jalameh Road. To accomplish this, I utilized the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers HEC-HMS Model in combination with GIS tools to accurately compute the necessary
design flow rates.

 10 – 14/12/2013: A Lecturer in a project organized by the Palestinian Agricultural Relief, funded by


the European Union, and in collaboration with Beir-Zeit University in the villages of Beit Dajan and
Anza. The focus of my lectures encompassed various aspects, including an introduction to wastewater and its
characteristics, the associated impacts of treated wastewater reuse, different topics related to wastewater reuse,
and water pollution. The aim of these lectures was to provide comprehensive knowledge and raise awareness
among the participants on these important subjects.

 2013: Provided water and environmental consulting services to Tulkarem Municipality in Palestine.

 2010 – 2013: I was appointed as the Palestinian Young Water Ambassador in the Basin Countries of
the Mediterranean by the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA).

 2010 – 2011: Part-Time Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department at An-Najah National
University, covering subjects such as Water Drainage Systems and Environmental Engineering 2.

 2010 – 2013: A Research Engineer at the Water and Environmental Studies Institute in An-Najah
National University, Nablus, Palestine. My focus has been on a project titled "Impact of Untreated Wastewater
on Natural Water Bodies: Integrated Risk Assessment" in collaboration with UNESCO-IHE in Delft, Netherlands.
Throughout this project, I have gained extensive experience in conducting surface water and groundwater
sampling and analyses. A significant aspect of our work involved assessing the groundwater quality in the Faria
catchment by collecting and analyzing samples from wells and springs situated within the study area.

Major Projects

Within the Waste Operations Department of Dubai Municipality, I have been involved in a range of
significant projects, including, but not limited to:
1. Supervising three Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) located in the Emirate of Dubai.
2. Overseeing the Extraction and Flaring of Methane Gas from Landfills Project in Dubai.
3. Managing various projects from initial business case formulation to implementation and operation, including:
 The Waste to Energy Center at Warasan project, which is the world's largest centralized
facility planned to handle 5,666 tons of domestic waste daily.
 Electricity Generation from Landfill Gases in Dubai landfills.

 Establishing a Hazardous Industrial Liquid Waste Treatment Plant within the Jebel Ali
Hazardous Waste Treatment Facility.
 Setting up a Used Engine Oil Treatment Plant in Jebel Ali.
 Development of an Integrated Medical and Pharmaceutical Waste Incineration Plant in Jebel
Ali.
 Establishing and Overseeing Converting Agricultural waste into Eco-friendly Charcoal Cubes
project in Hatta City – Dubai.
 Conducting a Feasibility Study on Organic Waste Management across the Emirate of Dubai.
 Undertaking a Feasibility Study on Bottom Ash and Fly Ash Management in Dubai.
 Establishing a Double-Lined Hazardous Waste Landfill in Jebel Ali.

Within the Water and Environmental Studies Institute of An-Najah National University, I have been

 Designing a Water Treatment Plant for Jenin City, Palestine.
 Designing a Wastewater Treatment Plant for Anabta town, Palestine.
 Conducting a Water Quality Modeling Project for Wadi Zeimar in the Northern Region of the West
Bank/Palestine, utilizing the Qual2K model.
 Performing Rainfall-Runoff Modeling for the "Wadi Al-Qilt" Catchment in the West Bank, Palestine.
 Engaging in the Design of a Sanitary Landfill in Tulkarem Governorate, Palestine, focusing on solid
waste management and engineering.
 Undertaking an Environmental Impact Assessment Study for a Regional Wastewater Treatment
Plant Project in Tulkarm Governorate, Palestine.
 Conducting a Public Health and Sanitation Project titled "Wadi-Aquifer Interaction in Faria
Catchment and its Effects on Human Health and the Surrounding Environment ".

 2016: A Conference Proceeding titled "Developing a GIS-Based Agro-Land Suitability Map for the
Faria Agricultural Catchment, Palestine" was accepted and presented at the second annual conference of
the Palestinian-Dutch Academic Cooperation Program on Water (PADUCO) held from October 28-30, 2016, in The
Hague, The Netherlands.
 2015: A Conference Proceeding titled "Development of Agricultural Best Management Practices to

 2013: A Conference Proceeding titled "Developing Quantitative and Qualitative Relationships of
Wadi-Aquifer Interaction in the Semi-Arid Watershed of Faria, Palestine" was published in the
proceedings of the Third International Conference on Energy and Environmental Protection in Sustainable
