ON THE AUDIT PROCESS

ABSTRACT. Our society is characterized by a great use of technologies of all kind.

We use smart phones, smart TVs, smart applications, numerous and various types of
informational technology applicable in all kinds of workloads. In the perspective of
a worker and the company’s manager, the use of informational technology has a
great benefit because of some inherent advantages, such as easy access to
information, reduction of working time, ease of work control and so on. An
economic entity can be seen as a scene on which a number of roles are played,
where every department is highly important, meaning that a company taken as a
whole with all its departments functioning on a high level of performance would be
able to sustain the principle of continuity and also be able to ensure continuous
development. Auditor’s work is directly influenced by the company's computerized
environment, mainly through the fact that opportunities and new risks are created,
and thus, new rules regarding security and acceptable gaps are needed. In that sense,
the auditor must appeal to some specific instruments and techniques meant to assist
him/her in every stage of his/her audit mission. This paper focuses on highlighting
the role of information technology in the audit process, the advantages in using
computerized applications in this modern activity named audit.

1. Introduction
All nowadays companies operate in a computerized environment, some of
them being almost 100% computerized, and some making use of
applications needed for bookkeeping and reporting financial statements. A
computerized environment comes bundled along with the obvious
