TM2500 Technical Procedure
TP8102
GE ENERGY
Start Sequence

When all pre-start permissives have been met and a “START” command is initiated, the
following sequences will occur during a normal start of the TM2500 gas turbine.

• Two enclosure ventilation fans are started

• The generator DC lube oil pump will be started along with a 5-second time delay
verification timer
• The turbine starter system pump motor is started

NOTICE

SMALL TIME DELAYS ARE PROVIDED BETWEEN MOTOR STARTS TO MINIMIZE

MCC INRUSH CURRENT.

• The turbine enclosure differential pressure timer is started after DP confirmation

• After generator lube oil pressure has risen above alarm level and the enclosure purge has
been successfully completed, the turbine will ramp to high speed crank (2300-2400
RPM)
• When the turbine reaches 2200 RPM, the engine purge timer will be started
• When the enclosure purge timer has expired, the starter will be disengaged and the
turbine will coast down to firing speed
• When the turbine has coasted down to firing speed (gas 1700 RPM, liquid 1200 RPM)
the starter, fuel and ignition systems will be enabled

• When the turbine reaches 4500 RPM, the starter and ignition systems will drop out
• The turbine will ramp to 3600 RPM and a warm-up timer will be started when the turbine
PT comes in to control
• After the turbine PT has been at synchronous speed for 3 minutes, the auto synchronizer
will be enabled and the generator will be synchronized to the bus/grid
• When the warm-up timer has expired (4 minutes) the turbine will be permitted to ramp to
maximum load over a period of two minutes
