Defination and Concept

▪ Bioclimatic construction refers to the design of buildings
that make the most of natural resources and the
environment's climatic conditions to reduce
consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Characteristics
o Passive Design: Utilizes natural elements like sunlight, wind, and
vegetation for heating, cooling, and ventilation, reducing
reliance on mechanical systems.
o Orientation and Layout: Buildings are strategically oriented to
optimize solar gain in winter and minimize heat gain in summer,
while also considering prevailing winds for natural ventilation.
o Natural Ventilation: Incorporates design elements such as
operable windows, louvers, and courtyards to facilitate cross-
ventilation and enhance indoor air quality.
o Sustainable Materials: Utilizes environmentally friendly materials
with low embodied energy, high durability, and recyclability,
sourced locally whenever possible to reduce carbon footprint.

o Natural Lighting: Maximizes daylight penetration through
building design, orientation, and use of reflective
surfaces to reduce reliance on artificial lighting.
