Section 1: Review (approx. 100 words)
Throughout this course, I have gained experience in almost all areas of film
production, as well as developing my amateur skills I had from making films with
family and friends. During the documentary project, I took on the responsibility to
lead the project as director. This role allowed me to build my team management
skills which I am looking forward to carrying into this project. In the music video
project, I took on the roles of editor and digipack designer. These suited my
creative personality perfectly and gave me chance to work on my photoshop and
premier pro skills. In this short film project, I am returning to the role of director and
will be editing my own cut of the production, allowing me to put my skills into
practice.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words)


Our project, ‘Screen Time’ will be a horror film based on a strict parent and a
rebellious child. The concept involves a teenage boy who wants to stay up and play
video games with his friends, but his mum confiscates his device chargers.
Encouraged by his friends, he sneaks downstairs to find something to charge his
Nintendo, but unbeknown to him, his mum is secretly a monster. My intentions for
this project are to work alongside Isaac and Jamil, implementing my skills of
directing and team management to produce a short film that both entertains,
scares, and evidences our hard work to our audience. Our inspiration mainly
derives from an existing horror short film called ‘vicious’, which is set in a house
and includes a dark, shadowy monster. The film includes jump-scares that have
inspired us and has helped us develop an understanding of how to create them
effectively. For this project, we have a very low budget, and limited resources to
work with. However, being the director, I am aiming to not let this affect the
cinematic value of the production, proving to my peers and tutors that a gripping
and high-quality horror film can be achieved.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)


In order to evidence my progress and development in this project, I will record it in
my online journal website; Weebly. I will also record any research I have done in
the pre-production stage of the project, splitting it into three sections; Content,
Market and Production. As well as including pages for context and the practical
skills I develop during the project, I will also have a section dedicated to my own
reflection and evaluation for the project.
