Vocabulary: Food & DRINK SERVICE ON BOARD

Breakfast: light meal consisting of a croissant or bread, with jam


or marmalade, with fruit juice and tea or coffee. This is a 'continental
breakfast'. A larger meal, with perhaps a cereal and grilled bacon,
sausage and eggs is known as an 'English' or 'cooked' breakfast.

Lunch/Dinner: more substantial meals are served at midday


and in the evening respectively. They typically consist of: meat
(beef)/ chicken/ fish with a selection of vegetables or pasta.
Dessert, cheese and biscuits (fresh fruit), tea or coffee.

Snacks: small items served between main meals. They may vary
from elaborate open sandwiches or fresh fruit and cheese to a
simple packet of biscuits.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
Should the cabin experience sudden loss of cabin pressure, stay calm
and listen for instructions from the cabin crew.
Oxygen masks will drop from the overhead compartments.
Place the mask over your nose and mouth and breathe normally.
The mask may not inflate, but you are receiving oxygen.
If you are travelling with children or anyone needing special assistance,
put your own mask first, before helping them.

• Giving emergency instructions is one of the cabin crew
members’ tasks on board. Here are some common commands:

 Bent down!

breathe normally!

EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Close overhead lockers and stow bags under seats.
2. Open the emergency exit next to your seat.
3. Take up the brace position.
4. Get down low and follow the floor lighting.
5. Jump onto the slide feet first.
6. Fasten your seat belts.
7. Put on your own oxygen mask first.
8. Put on your life jacket; it’s under your seat.
9. Use the over wing emergency exit s over water.
10. Disarm the door.

Tasks to perform some minutes before take-off.


• FA checks the boarding music.
• FA stands at each cabin door to welcome the
passengers aboard.
Checks the ticket / Boarding pass ( name / flight
number / the date / the assigned seat number) and
other FA show the passengers to their seats.
• In some cases, a meal to be served right after the take-
off is being prepared.
• FA checks the cabin, galleys, lounge and lavatories for
stowaways.
• Lock cabin doors and check for the cabin to be secure
(no loose equipment / flight service crews are in their
assigned positions / passengers are in their assigned
seats).
• Welcome and Safety announcements.
• FA checks that all seatbelts are fastened and that seat
tables are closed.
• Finally, flight attendants take their assigned positions
for the take-off.

BEFORE TAKE-OFF / LANDING FA’S TASKS

 Check that all the seatbelts are fastened.

 Armrests must be down.

 All windows must be opened.

 All seats must be in vertical position.

 All PX must be awake.

 Tray tables must be closed.

 Headsets and earphones must be taken off.

 All electronic devices must be turned off / Offline mode

 Hand luggage must not be under the PX seat. / it can be in the front seat.

 Walking areas must be cleared from obstruction.

SAFETY DEMO ANNOUNCEMENT


Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of this flight crew, we ask that you please direct your attention to the TV monitors as
we review the emergency procedures.
This aircraft is equipped with six emergency exits. Take a minute to locate the nearest exits to you. Note that the
closest exit may be behind you.
To properly fasten your seat-belt insert the flat end into the buckle, to release lift up on the buckle. Your seat-belt
should be worn tight and low across your hips and at all times you are sitting.
Should the cabin experience sudden loss of cabin pressure, stay calm and listen for instructions from the cabin crew.
Oxygen masks will drop from the overhead compartments. Place the mask over your nose and mouth and breathe
normally. Pull the strap to tighten it up. The mask may not inflate, but you are receiving oxygen. If you are travelling
with children or anyone needing special assistance, put your own mask first before helping them.
In the event of a water evacuation, use the life vest under your seat. Remove the vest only if the crew members tell you
to do so. Open the pouch, remove the vest and place it over your head. Wrap the strap around your waist and buckle
it in the front. Once outside the aircraft inflate the vest by pulling down on the red tab, and to manually inflate, blow
into the tubes at your shoulders.
We ask that you make sure that all carry-on luggage is stowed away safely during the flight. While we wait for take-off,
please take a moment to review the safety information card located in the seat-back pocket in front of you.
