Paw Patrol Inspired Crochet Pattern

Materials needed:
• DK yarn in green, light grey, dark grey and grey. I used Scheepjes Colour Crafter 100g
balls in Verviers (light grey), Wolvega (dark grey), Terneuzen (green) and Heerenveen
(grey)
• Small amounts of DK in white, orange, navy,
light pink and black
• Small amount of 4ply yarn in white, brown and
black (for the eyes)
• 3.5mm crochet hook
2.5mm hook for the eyes
• Needle for sewing him together
• Toy stuffing
• Stitch markers
Stitches used. I wrote this using US crochet terms. I've added a conversion chart from simply
crochetmag just in case :)
• Single crochet (sc)

Ok, now all that is out of the way, lets get started

Body
With green and worked in continuous rounds, stuffing as you go:

29. Change colour to grey. I like doing this by pulling up a loop of green and doing the yarn
over and pull through in grey, the put a ss in the next st (that's the first 2 stitches of the
round) and continue on. I find the colour change looks a lot smoother this way. Sc around

Fasten off. Thread your end through the remaining 6 stitches and pull tight. Secure and pass
through the body, trimming off any excess. You should end up with a funny looking pear shape,
that is more curved on one side, this is the belly side.

Front Legs
Left Leg,
with light grey, stuffing as you go
1. Magic ring, ch 1 and 6sc into ring [6]

27. Shaping the shoulder. By now your round should be ending at the back of the leg. Sc until
you reach the centre back. This is now the start of the round. Sc, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, dc,

28. Partial round, sc, hdc, hdc, hdc, 2 dc in stitch, dc, hdc, hdc, hdc, sc, ss
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Take a strand of light grey and sew on two toes (coming out of the bottom of the foot and going
into the top of the foot)

Right leg
Work as for left leg up to row 26
26. sc to the centre front of the leg, this is the new start of the round
27. sc, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc, ss 10
28. partial round. Sc, hdc, hdc, hdc, dc inc, dc, hdc, hdc, hdc, sc, ss
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Take a strand of light grey and sew on two toes (coming out of the bottom of the foot and going
into the top of the foot)

Back legs
Left leg
Work as for front leg up to row 26.

32. Shaping the shoulder. Sc until you reach the centre back. This is now the start of the
round. Sc, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc, ss 10.
33. Partial round. Sc, hdc, hdc, hdc, dc inc, dc, hdc, hdc, hdc, sc, ss. Fasten off leaving a
long tail for sewing.

Right leg
Work as for left leg up to row 32
32. Shape shoulders. Partial round, sc to front centre
of leg. This is the new start of the round. Sc, sc,
hdc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc, ss 10.
33. Partial round, Sc, hdc, hdc, hdc, dc inc, dc, hdc,
hdc, hdc, sc, ss. Fasten off leaving a long tail for
sewing. Take a strand of grey and stitch in some
toes.

Sew the front legs to row 12/13 of the body, keeping the
shoulders on the outside of the body.
Sew the back legs to the first round of grey after the
colour change.

Jacket Cuffs, Waistband, Belt Loops and Belt


Jacket Cuffs:
Make 2, With Green:
1. Chain 25
2. sc in second ch from hook and next 23 chains
Sew to body at the top of the front legs. (be careful not to twist it)

Waistband:
With green:
1. Chain 42
2. sc in second ch from hook and next 40 chains.
Sew to body where the colour change round is. Start and finish at the centre of his tummy but
leave a small gap where the ends meet.

Belt Loops:
Make 4, With green:
1. chain 7
2. sc in second ch from hook and next 5 chains. Ch 1, turn.
3. 6 sc
Sew evenly around body at the waistband.

Belt:
With Blue:
1. Chain 45
2. sc in second chain from hook and next 43
chains, ch1, turn
3. 44 sc, ch 1, turn
4. 44 sc
Thread through the belt loops and sew ends
together.

Tail
The tail is made up of 3 tufts.
Middle tuft:
1. Magic ring with 6 sc [6]
2. sc around [6]
3. sc around [6]
4. 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc [8]
5. sc around [8]
6. sc around [8]
7. sc around [8]
Fasten off and set aside, we'll join all the tufts
together later.

First and last tufts:

Eye Patch
In dark grey:

5. 3 sc, inc, 3 hdc, (dc inc) x 2, 3 hdc, 3 sc
Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew to the head.

Nose
With 4 ply black and 3.5mm hook:
1. magic ring with 6 sc
2. (1 sc, inc) x 3
3. (2 sc, inc) x 3
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Sew onto the snout.

Eyes
Using your 4 ply black, brown and white and a
2.5mm hook:
1. in black, magic ring with 4 sc. Join to first
sc with a ss, ch 1.
2. inc x 4, Join to first sc with a ss, change
colour to brown, ch 1
3. (1 sc, inc) x 4. Join to first sc with a ss,
change to white, ch 1
4. (2 sc, inc) x 4. Join to first sc with a ss, ch
1
5. 3 sc, inc, (3 hdc, hdc inc) x 2, ss.
Fasten off, sew to head on either side of the snout.

With black, embroider a mouth and eyebrows. Use


my pictures as a guide on placements.

Ears
With grey, make 2:
1. magic ring with 4sc [4]
2. (1 sc, inc) x 2 [6]
3. (2 sc, inc) x 2 [8]
4. (3 sc, inc) x 2 [10]
5. (1sc, inc) x 5 [15]
6. sc around [15]
7. (4 sc, inc) x 3 [18]

9. Notch, for left ear only, (For right ear just sc around)
15 sc, ch 2, skip 2, 4sc

13. (5 sc, dec) x 3 [18]

15. (1 sc, dec) x 5 [10]
16. Fold flat so that the notch is on the outside of the
ear, sc to the outer edge, start this round here (for
right ear, just fold ear flat and crochet from where
you are) : ch 2, dc in same st, dc, hdc, sc, ss, ss, ss, sc, hdc, dc. Join to top of ch 2 and
fasten off.

Cut some pink felt to fit as the inner ear and sew or glue it on. Sew to sides of head.

Ear tuft
with grey, make 2:
1. ch 4, turn
2. 3 sc, ch 1, turn
3. 1 sc, 1 ss, fasten off
Sew just in front of the ears.

Hair
With grey, make 2, these are the outer
tufts of hair, these are semi circles folded
in half so they are not crocheted in the
round, but back and forth in rows.
1. magic ring with 3 sc, ch 1, turn
2. 3 inc [6]
3. (1 sc, inc) x 3 [9]
fold in half and sew sides together.

Middle tuft:
1. magic ring with 5 sc, ch 1, turn
2. 5 inc [10]
3. (1 sc, inc) x 5 [15]
Fold in half and sew sides together.
Sew to top of head.

Cheek tufts
with light grey, Make 4 outer tufts as for the outer tuft hair pattern above, and 2 middle hair
tufts, sew two outer and one middle to either side of the face.

Neck
with grey leaving a long starting tail and a long finishing tail for sewing:
1. ch 26. Join with a ss to first ch to form a loop
2. ch 1, sc in same st as ss and ch 1, sc 25 [26] now in continuous rounds
3. 26 sc
4. 26 sc
5. 12 sc, 6 hdc, 8 sc, ch 1, turn
6. 19 sc, ss
Sew to body with the rise in the neck at the front, this is to support the head.
Sew head to neck, stuff neck VERY firmly.

Collar
With orange:
1. ch 29, turn
2. hdc in 2nd ch from hook and next 26 sts, ch 2, turn
3. hdc across, ch 1, turn
4. sc across.
Wrap around neck and sew ends together.

Badge
Make 2, one with dark grey and one with green, ch 1 and turn at the end of each row:
1. ch 2, turn
2. 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook [2]
3. 2 inc [4]
4. inc, 2 sc, inc [6]
5. sc across [6]
6. sc across [6]
7. sc across [6]
8. ss, ss, ch 1, hdc, hdc, ch 1, ss, ss.
Fasten off green, with grey sc around green and grey badges to join them together. Embroider or
add felt arrows. Chain 7 or 8 stitches at the top of the badge, hook through collar and ss back to
top of badge.

Hat
Make 2, one in white and one in green. Ch 1
and turn at the end of each row.

Sew 2 halves together, leaving a few rows open on either side for the ears. Add a chain of 6
stitches to the edge of the green and attach it to the edge of the white to loop the hat over his
ears.

Hat brim:
Attach green to the fifth st in on the white.
1. (2 sc, inc) across until you have 6 white stitches left, sc 2, ch 1, turn
2. (3 sc, inc) across, leave last 2 sc, ch 1, turn
3. sc to last 2, fasten off
4. Attach green to 2nd white sc from the green rows you just did, hdc in 2 left over green
stitches from previous round, hdc up the side of these rows, 2 hdc in the corner, hdc
across, 2 hdc in the corner, hdc down the side, ss to 2 nd white stitch across.
5. 2 ss to last white stitch, turn, hdc around previous hdc row, ss to last white stitch and
fasten off.

Hat Badge
Do the badge as for the collar badge, but with white at the back and dark grey at the front. Cut
a paw shape out of felt and glue to the badge, sew or glue the badge to the hat.
